Affiliated Pediatric Dentistry and Orthodontics is a well-established and reputable Pediatric Dental & Orthodontic practice in Scottsdale that has been serving The Valley for nearly 40 years. What’s it like to work at “APDO”
The Pediatric Dental Assistant is responsible for creating a welcoming environment for our patients and parents that focuses on education, relationship building, and upholding our concierge approach to high-end Pediatric Dentistry. We aim to become a “dental home” to those in our community where they feel safe, valued, and heard.
Key responsibilities include:
- Creating a friendly atmosphere for dental procedures, helping them feel comfortable and at ease.
- Educating children and parents about proper oral hygiene practices, including brushing, flossing, and dietary habits.
- Assisting the dentist during examinations, treatments, and procedures by providing the necessary instruments and materials, ensuring compliance with infection control for a safe and sterile environment.
- Performing coronal polishing and taking digital dental x-rays, ensuring proper positioning and image quality.
- Collaborating with the dental team to develop effective treatment plans for patients.

Compensation Package:
In addition to an hourly rate, we include the following benefits in our compensation package for those working 30 hours or more:

Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent; completion of a dental assistant program is preferred.
- DANB x-ray certification.
- Coronal Polish certification (or in process of completing).
- Experience working in a pediatric dental setting is a plus but not required.
- Excellent communication skills, especially when interacting with children and parents.
- Empathy, patience, and a genuine interest in helping young patients have positive dental experiences.
- Familiarity with dental software for charting and record-keeping.
- Knowledge of infection control and sterilization procedures.
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team and contribute to a positive work environment.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
