Job Description

SUMMARY: Responsible for supporting the delivery of quality dental care by preparing and organizing instruments, patient, operatory, and dental materials. The assistant must follow OSHA guidelines and the Ohio Dental Practice Act.

Supervisory Role

Reports to: Director of Advanced Dentistry.

Responsibilities
  • Work as a team player with a positive attitude.
  • Assist the Doctor with all dental procedures after training.
  • Seat patients promptly and educate them on procedures.
  • Reinforce oral hygiene instructions.
  • Stock operatories and assist colleagues in maintaining supplies.
  • Document procedures and patient interactions thoroughly in electronic records.
  • Operate equipment at the start and end of each day.
  • Maintain OSHA standards and keep work areas organized.
  • Perform sterilization, water line cleaning, and maintenance tasks.
  • Possess knowledge of dental procedures and instruments.
  • Perform basic procedures such as cleanings, X-rays, and impressions (if certified).
  • Provide excellent customer service and manage office tasks like scheduling and supply orders.
  • Communicate effectively and work well with insurance companies for prior authorizations.
  • Call patients to schedule and confirm appointments.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Completion of Dental Assistant Program or equivalent experience.
Licenses and Certifications
  • X-ray certification in Ohio and proficiency in digital radiography.
  • CPR certification.
Additional Information

This role requires compliance with API's standards and policies, including the Compliance Program and Standards of Conduct. Non-compliance may result in disciplinary actions.

Physical demands include sitting, using hands, talking, hearing, reaching, standing, walking, and lifting up to 25 pounds regularly, with occasional heavier lifts.

Work environment involves exposure to mechanical parts, outdoor conditions, electrical risks, and moderate noise levels. Stress may be high at times.
