LSU Health Sciences Center in New Orleans seeks a Dental Assistant 2 to support dentists and students in four-handed dentistry. You will work across multiple specialties under supervision, delivering chair-side care and teaching students in a busy academic clinic.

The role emphasizes patient charting, fluoride application, and procedural support in Endodontics and other clinics. Strong computer skills and a willingness to learn are essential.

Job Summary/Basic Functions

To provide chair side assistance to a licensed dentist and to instruct and assist dental students in four-handed dentistry. The employee will provide chair side assistance to dentists and dental students in a variety of specialties which include but not limited to: Oral Surgery, Orthodontics, Periodontics, Endodontics, Pedodontics, Fixed and Removable Prosthodontics. The employee will work under the general supervision of the dental assistant supervisor in the sophomore, junior and senior clinic, General Practice Residency Program and the Emergency Dental Clinic at the LSUHSC School of Dentistry.

Compensation

There is a Special Entrance Rate (SER) of

• $15.05 per hour for Dental Assistant 2 title

Additional compensation

• $1.00 Longevity Pay for hours worked only.
• $2.25 per hour worked available for candidates that hold a current DANB (Dental Assisting National Board) certification.
• $1.50 for EDDA certification (Expanded Dental Duty Dental Assistant).

This is a Civil Service Position.

Pre-employment Drug testing and Criminal Background check are required.

This position will require selected applicant to be in a probationary status for at least 6 months.
