Job Summary: The Dental Assistant 2 performs chairside assisting of undergraduate and graduate students with dental procedures and patient management. Maintains clinic cleanliness, opens and locks up the clinic, delivers and retrieves instruments to and from sterilization, and sets up operatories. Performs other duties as needed.
High School Diploma or GED required. Minimum two years of dental assisting back-office experience required.
Requires hand-eye coordination, manual dexterity, and knowledge of digital radiographic procedures, equipment usage, radiograph processing, and darkroom setup. Familiar with four-handed dentistry, dental materials, and waste minimization. Must have basic assisting skills, good communication in English (Spanish preferred), computer literacy, troubleshooting skills, and the ability to work under pressure. Must be able to distinguish colors and smells as necessary for patient care, hear sufficiently, see adequately, and discern temperature variances.
Current BLS certification and X-ray license required. Dental Assistant Certification preferred. Must hold at least one of the following licenses: OMSA, RDA, CDA, ODA, or equivalent.
