Job Summary:
Responsible for dental assisting duties listed in Florida Statutes 466 and Administrative Rules 64B-5, screening and preparing patients for treatment; assisting dentist in treating patients; educating patients; processing instruments; taking and developing radiographs.
Qualifications:
Education:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Dental Assistant diploma or certificate of completion from an accredited school or training program including dental radiology required.
- Successful completion of Expanded Functions Dental Assistant Certificate (EFDA) within 9 months from date of hire.
Experience:
- 2 years' experience in a dental setting preferred.
- Must have the ability to effectively use computer software and an electronic health record system.
Certification/Licensure:
- Current/valid Expanded Functions Dental Assistant Certificate (EFDA) within 9 months from date of hire required.
- Current/valid BLS certification within 30 days from date of hire.
Special skills:
- Ability to stay positive in stressful situations.
- Ability to deal professionally with unhappy, fearful patients.
Other requirements:
- Able to work flexible hours and sites as needed.
- Must have a valid Florida Driver's license.
