Job summary

Baystate Dental in Westfield, Massachusetts is seeking a Dental Assistant to join our clinical team. You will support the office and assist dentists during procedures, ensuring high-quality patient care in a team-focused environment.

Candidates must have a one-year dental assistant program and X-ray certification; nitrous oxide certification is a plus. The position offers full-time hours, 8am-5pm, with comprehensive health, dental, and vision coverage and a 401(k) plan.

Qualifications

• Completion of a one-year certified dental assistant program.
• 1 year on-the-job experience.
• X-ray certification.
• Nitrous oxide certification highly recommended.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Annual OSHA, HIPAA, CPR and infection control training as required by law.

Responsibilities

• Clinical Support: Prepare treatment rooms, sterilize instruments, and assist dentists during procedures.
• Patient Care: Welcome, comfort, and educate patients on oral hygiene and post-treatment care.
• Radiography & Diagnostics: Take and develop X-rays, assist with impressions, and maintain study models.
• Compliance & Safety: Ensure infection control protocols, maintain patient confidentiality, and follow workplace regulations.
• Maintain accurate patient records and documentation, including scheduling and patient intake.

• Helps dentist manage dental and medical emergencies by maintaining CPR certification, emergency drug and oxygen supply, and emergency telephone directory.
