Job summary

Westchester Medical Center Health Network is seeking a Dental Assistant to provide chairside support in the hospital-based dental clinic. You will assist dentists, manage supplies, and prepare treatment rooms for patient care.

The role requires 1–2 years of RDA experience, a high school diploma or GED, and licensure as an RDA or RDAEF; CPR is preferred. Excellent communication and a professional attitude are essential.

To provide chairside support to Dentists and Residents in the hospital based dental clinic in accordance with hospital policy.

Responsibilities

• Take and document patient dental history and updates, as well as overall health and medication history.
• Assist dentist by handling supplies and instruments as requested.
• Prepare tables and trays for dentist with necessary instruments and supplies.
• Clean and sterilize instruments, and prepare treatment rooms as needed.
• Take, expose, and mount high quality dental radiographs.
• Ensure appropriate supply of equipment and materials.
• Perform patient charting as instructed by the dentist.
• Welcome patients and get them situated in the appropriate treatment room.

Qualifications/Requirements

Experience: Work as a Dental Assistant in either a clinic or private practice office setting. 1-2 years of experience as an RDA.

Education: High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required.

Licenses / Certifications: Licensed as a Registered Dental Assistant (RDA) or a Registered Dental Assistant in Extended Functions (RDAEF). Current CPR certification preferred.

Other: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Proven ability to follow outlined policies and guidelines. Possess a professional and positive attitude.
