Job summary

Norman, Obeck, and Foy in Richmond, VA is seeking a skilled Dental Assistant to join our patient-focused practice. The ideal candidate has at least two years of chairside experience, X-ray certification, and a commitment to high-quality patient care in a collaborative team.

You will support the dentist, prepare instruments, take radiographs, manage patient records, and help maintain a clean, efficient operatory.

Qualifications

  • At least two years of dental assisting experience.
  • X-ray certification.
  • Current CPR/BLS certification.
  • EFDA certification preferred.
  • Strong clinical and organizational skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.

Responsibilities

  • Assist chairside during procedures.
  • Prepare and sterilize instruments and operatories.
  • Take digital radiographs and intraoral images.
  • Record and update patient histories and clinical notes.
  • Ensure patient comfort before, during, and after procedures.
  • Provide patient education on oral hygiene, treatment plans, and post-operative care.
  • Maintain operatory cleanliness and organization.
  • Manage inventory and restock supplies as needed.
  • Support front office duties as needed, including scheduling and patient communication.

Compensation: $25.00 - $29.00 / hour

We are seeking a skilled and dependable Dental Assistant with at least two years of experience to join our team. This role is ideal for a motivated professional who is comfortable working chairside, values efficiency, and is committed to delivering high-quality patient care in a team-oriented environment.

Schedule

Monday, Tuesday, Thursday 7-5; Wednesday and Friday 7-1

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist the dentist chairside during a variety of procedures
  • Prepare and sterilize instruments and operatories in accordance with infection control protocols
  • Take digital radiographs (X-rays) and intraoral images
  • Record and update patient medical histories and clinical notes accurately
  • Ensure patient comfort before, during, and after procedures
  • Provide patient education on oral hygiene, treatment plans, and post-operative care
  • Maintain operatory cleanliness and organization
  • Manage inventory and restock supplies as needed
  • Support front office duties as needed, including scheduling and patient communication
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
  • Minimum of 2 year of dental assisting experience required
  • X-ray certification
  • Current CPR/BLS certification required
  • EFDA certification preferred (if applicable)
  • Strong clinical and organizational skills

  • Ability to multitask and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
