Job summary

Blue Cloud Pediatric Surgery Centers is seeking a passionate Dental Assistant to join our Raleigh team. The position involves assisting pediatric patients and providing age-appropriate care while ensuring compliance with all decontamination and sterilization protocols.

As a key member of our dedicated team, you will manage surgical cases from preparation to patient assistance, having a direct impact on the care provided. Qualifications include a state license, RDA experience, and a current BLS certificate.

Qualifications

Blue Cloud Pediatric Surgery Centers, LLC seeks a Dental Assistant with a passion for serving pediatric and special‑needs patients (both children and adults). The successful candidate will maintain the exceptional work ethic and commitment described above.

Essential Functions

• Assist and anticipate the needs of the dentist and anesthesia provider regarding instruments, sutures, sponges, and supplies per technique, procedure, and special requirements.
• Prepare for dental surgical cases by picking supplies and equipment, ensuring all necessary items are available, and maintaining inventory and stock rooms.
• Be familiar with procedures performed.
• Know and understand dentist preferences.
• Provide age‑appropriate care to pediatric and adolescent patients, considering developmental/psychosocial needs, environmental safety, educational needs, communication style, and level of understanding.
• Assist with patient transfer from bed to gurney.
• Decontaminate and maintain all equipment, instruments, supplies, and clean surgical rooms between cases and at the end of the schedule as directed by procedure and the RN assigned to the room.
• Follow the surgery center’s manufacturer’s and CDC guidelines for decontamination and sterilization.
• Take x‑rays and clean and check x‑ray equipment.
• Mix cement and other materials as required.
• Handle suction hand‑pieces and air/water syringes.
• Ensure delivery of all specimens to the RN circulator in the room.
• Stock and clean rooms between cases and at the end of the schedule.
• Assist with turnover of the OR.
• Assist as directed in the delivery of emergency care.
• Perform front desk duties and act as a patient service coordinator.

Position Requirements

• High School Graduate or Equivalent.
• Completion of an accredited Dental Assistant Program.
• Current state license to practice as a registered dental assistant.
• One year of RDA experience.
• Current BLS Certificate.
• Background and drug screening required.
