Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Dentist during procedures, including preparing instruments, materials, suction, and retraction.
  • Perform sterilization of instruments and disinfect operatories between patients.
  • Assist with diagnostic X-rays and preparation of dental materials (cement, composite, impression materials, etc.).
  • Maintain accurate patient dental charts and record findings.
  • Provide patient education on oral hygiene and preventative care.
  • Maintain dental operator and equipment in proper working order.
  • Inventory and order supplies to ensure adequate stock levels.
  • Ensure adherence to infection control policies, universal precautions, and OSHA guidelines.
  • Maintain dental office security, including instruments, medication, and needle counts according to regulations.
  • Represent CFG Health Systems professionally and positively.
  • Protect patient confidentiality and comply with HIPAA and PREA regulations.
  • Demonstrate maturity, flexibility, and sound judgment in interactions with patients and staff.
  • Participate in ongoing training, quality improvement initiatives, and staff meetings.
  • Follow facility safety protocols and maintain necessary security clearances.
  • Utilize downtime to clean, organize, and stock operatories.
  • Perform other position-related duties as assigned.

Position Summary

The Dental Assistant provides direct support to the Dentist in delivering high-quality dental care to inmate patients within the correctional facility. This role ensures efficient, safe, and compliant dental operations in accordance with CFG clinical guidelines, community standards of care, and contractual obligations.

Qualifications Education and Certification
  • High School Diploma required

Experience
  • Previous clinical experience in a dental office preferred
