Job description

Overview

Job Title: Dental Assistant. Employer: Waterfall Community Health Center, FQHC. This role supports a team-based, patient-centered dental clinic serving insured and uninsured clients, with emphasis on care for individuals facing barriers to access due to income, language, culture, or social factors.

Responsibilities
  • Adhere to Waterfall Community Health Center’s mission to remove barriers to care while performing assigned duties.
  • Demonstrate the core values: Integrity, Respect, Accountability, Compassion, Partnership, and Collaborative Communication.
  • Prepare dental instruments, supplies, and equipment.
  • Perform routine equipment maintenance as assigned.
  • Prepare dental materials such as amalgam and composite.
  • Follow proper sterilization and infection control protocols.
  • Conduct dental charting using an electronic medical record (EMR) system.
  • Inventory control and management.
  • Assist the Dentist, Dental Hygienist, and Dental Director as needed.
  • Assist front office dental staff as needed.
  • Place sealants, perform fluoride treatments, coronal polish, take digital x-rays, and provide oral hygiene instructions.
  • Other related duties may be assigned by the Supervisor.
Qualifications
  • Expanded Function Dental Assistant (EFDA) Certification required within 6 months of hire.
  • 1 year of chairside dental assisting experience preferred.
  • Oregon Certificate of Radiologic Proficiency.
  • Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Experience with Electronic Medical Records (EMR) preferred.
  • Non-violent Crisis Intervention training completed within 6 months of hire and recertified prior to expiration date.
  • BLS certification obtained within 6 months of hire.
Immunizations
  • TB test upon hire.
Physical Requirements
  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk working at a computer.
  • Able to lift up to 15 pounds occasionally.
  • Able to travel as needed.
