Position Summary

We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Dental Assistant. In this role, the successful candidate assists the dentist on all modalities of dentistry (operatory, oral surgeon, endodontics, periodontics, orthodontics, pediatric dentistry). Practice four‑handed dentistry. The assistant also assumes the standards of care related to infection control; all OSHA guidelines and safety are upheld at the station assigned. The assistant exposes, develops and mounts radiographs properly, sets trays and prepares the room before accepting or discharging a patient. They are expected to assure patient comfort while waiting for the dentist. The assistant is responsible for sterilizing hand pieces, transporting instruments for sterilization, identifying any inoperable equipment, performing light lab work, documenting patient records as dictated by the dentist, and complying with all standards, policies, and procedures of the department.

Job Responsibilities

• Compliance with hospital, health center and departmental policies and procedures
• Provide chairside assistance to the dentist, utilizing proper four‑handed dentistry procedures and observing universal precautions/protocols and sterile techniques
• Demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide care based on physical, psychosocial, educational, safety and age‑related criteria pertinent to the patients served in the assigned area
• Pours and trims patient study models in the dental laboratory; complete laboratory forms accurately
• Document patient records as dictated by the dentist; assist the dentist in filling out charts accurately and processing the patients’ forms and records
• Sterilize and/or disinfect instruments and hand pieces following guidelines of the Dental Department Infection Control Manual
• Clean instruments and prepares them for sterilization
• Assure patients comfort while waiting for the dentist
• Maintain dental operatory in an organized and clean fashion; assure that appropriate instruments and supplies are available
• Takes, exposes, develops and mounts radiographs properly (when applicable)
• Assumes the standards of care related to infection control; all OSHA guidelines and safety are upheld at the station assigned

Minimum Qualifications

• High School Diploma
• 1 year experience of chairside dental assisting
• Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through the American Heart Association required at the time of hire and must be maintained
• Effective communication with all levels of the organization

Salary Range

The salary range for the role is $50,040.46 – $50,040.46 annually. Actual salaries depend on factors such as experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. The listed range does not include bonuses, incentive pay, differential pay, or other forms of compensation or benefits.
