Job summary

Muslim Community and Health Center of Wisconsin is seeking a skilled Dental Assistant to support dentists in delivering high-quality oral healthcare in a Federally Qualified Health Center setting.

The ideal candidate is patient-focused, detail-oriented, and committed to serving a diverse community. Responsibilities include chairside assistance, radiographs, sterilization, patient education, and efficient clinic flow. Mon-Thurs, 8 AM–4 PM; part-time or full-time roles available.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Completion of an accredited Dental Assistant program preferred.
  • CDA or state-specific dental assisting certification preferred.
  • CPR and First Aid certification required.
  • Strong communication skills with patients; bilingual ability is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Greet patients and monitor arrival time.
  • Set up treatment rooms for procedures; escort and seat patients.
  • Assist dentists and perform expanded functions as directed.
  • Take and develop dental radiographs as directed.
  • Maintain patient records and ensure HIPAA compliance.
  • Prepare rooms, sterilize instruments, and manage inventory.

MCHC is seeking a skilled and compassionateDental Assistantto join our team. As an integral part of our Federally Qualified Health Center-Look Alike, you will assist dentists in providing high-quality oral healthcare to patients of all ages. The ideal candidate is patient-focused, detail-oriented, and passionate about working with patients in a diverse community setting.

Key Responsibilities
  • Greet patients when they sign in and monitor arrival time
  • Set up treatment rooms for procedures
  • Escort patients to treatment room
  • Seat patients in treatment rooms
  • Show care and concern, and help patients feel comfortable
  • Obtain and review health histories according to office protocol
  • Ensure patients are always attended
  • Anticipate and assist dentist's needs
  • Perform expanded functions and other tasks as assigned by the dentist
  • Mix dental materials
  • Ensure patients' questions are answered thoroughly before they leave
  • Chart patients and record date, service rendered and any charges
  • Escort patients from the treatment room
  • Ensure proper treatment notes are recorded in patient's chart
  • Perform clinical procedures as practice act allows and as directed by dentist
  • Give patient instruction and demonstrate when necessary
  • Monitor patient flow
  • Notify Treatment Coordinator if a patient should be called in the evening after a difficult appointment
  • Treatment Room Management and Sterilization
  • Keep dental units ready, stocked and clean
  • Oversee cleanliness of the treatment room according to sterilization procedures
  • Disinfect treatment rooms according to OSHA regulations
  • Sterilize all instruments and handpieces according to OSHA regulations
  • Keep trays, instruments and treatment room drawers organized
  • Ensure that office sterilization procedures document is on display
  • Promptly send out and monitor all dental laboratory cases
  • Implement the preventative maintenance/cleaning schedule for dental equipment
  • Maintain dental office emergency kits and nitrous and oxygen tanks
  • Follow laboratory procedures according to office protocol
  • Assist dentists with examinations, treatments, and procedures, ensuring a comfortable and positive experience for all patients.
  • Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing instruments and ensuring all necessary materials are available.
  • Take and develop dental radiographs (X-rays) as directed by the dentist.
  • Educate patients and parents on proper oral hygiene, preventive care, and post-treatment instructions.
  • Maintain accurate patient records and documentation in compliance with FQHC standards and HIPAA regulations.
  • Provide chairside assistance during dental procedures, including behavior management techniques appropriate for children.
  • Administer fluoride treatments and apply dental sealants as directed.
  • Ensure infection control and sterilization protocols are strictly followed.
  • Assist with scheduling, billing, and coordinating patient appointments as needed.
  • Support outreach and community education efforts to promote dental health.
Records Management
  • Securely store and handle patient records in compliance with state and federal requirements, including
    the HIPAA privacy and security regulations
  • Accurately file patient information
  • Arrange patient charts and radiographs for next day's appointments
  • Track cases and referrals to and from other doctors
  • Assist in the administration of the recall system
Inventory Management
  • Monitor inventory and order dental office supplies as needed
  • Ensure that treatment rooms are stocked at all times
Qualifications & Skills
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Completion of an accredited Dental Assistant program preferred.
  • Certified Dental Assistant (CDA) or state-specific dental assisting certification preferred
  • CPR and First Aid certification required.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to comfort and engage patients.
  • Bilingual proficiency is a plus.
  • Familiarity with Epic Wisdom dental software and electronic health records (EHR) preferred.
Schedule
  • Mon-Thurs, hours 8 AM - 4 PM
  • This position is currently open for part-time or full-time
