Job Description
Dental Assistant
Performs duties that assist the Dental Director, Dentists, and Dental Hygienists in the care and treatment of patients. Duties include reception, chairside assisting, inventory, and records management.

• Starting wage $20.50 to $25 per hour
• Monday to Friday – 8 am to 5 pm

A Day in the Life of a Dental Assistant with Salud: A Dental Assistant prepares treatment rooms, maintains schedules, interacts with patients before, during, and after procedures, and assists the dentist chairside. These are just some of the many duties involved.

Qualifications

Experience: Previous Dental Assistant experience is desired but not required.

Education:

• High school diploma or equivalent required

Licensure/Certification:

• No licensure or certification needed to hire
• Must be radiology certified through a state-approved radiology program within the timeframe set by Dental Department standards
• Successful completion of Salud Family Health Center Ladder’s program is required
• Registered Dental Assistant Program certification is required

Maintain current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from AHA, ASHI, or Red Cross.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• May be required to travel to other clinics
• Willingness to learn and expand abilities
• Ability to follow instructions, motivate patients, and work well with team members
• Operate and document in electronic records, take digital X-rays reliably
• Establish effective relationships with patients and staff; sensitivity to low-income and minority communities is essential
• Bilingual English/Spanish preferred
