Qualifications

  • Requires an Associate’s Degree or Certification in Dental Technology from an accredited school.
  • Experience in private or public dental practice as a Dental Technician or Registered Dental Assistant.
  • Must maintain CPR certification.

  • Performs intra-oral and extra-oral x-rays and manages clinic sanitation.

How You Make a Difference

The Dental Assistant provides documentation of dental services, maintains dental charts, records findings, and schedules appointments. Accurate documentation ensures dentists can monitor care and deliver the best possible treatment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provides chair-side assistance during dental procedures, sterilizes instruments, and mixes restorative materials as needed
  • Performs intra-oral and extra-oral x-rays, develops and mounts x-ray films
  • Maintains x-ray, processor, autoclave, and dental unit(s) according to specifications
  • Manages inventory, orders supplies, and sets up trays for patients
  • Completes daily instrument count sheets, performs dental screenings, and maintains clinic sanitation

Qualifications & Requirements

Education

  • Requires an Associate’s Degree or Certification in Dental Technology from an accredited school

Experience

  • Experience in a private or public dental practice as a Dental Technician or Registered Dental Assistant
  • Demonstrates sound judgment in dental decisions within correctional healthcare settings

Licenses / Certifications

  • Must obtain and maintain CPR certification
