Job summary

Kelly Family Dentistry is looking for a motivated Dental Assistant to join our dedicated team in Huntingburg, Indiana. In this role, you will ensure patient comfort, assist with various dental procedures, and maintain accurate patient records. Your proficiency in sterilization and knowledge of dental instruments will be essential to support our practice effectively.

Qualifications

Job description

Job Title: Dental Assistant

Location: Kelly Family Dentistry

Schedule: Monday through Thursday from 8am to 5pm | Friday from 7am to 3pm

We are seeking a motivated and skilled Dental Assistant to join our dedicated dental team. As an essential part of our practice, you will play a key role in creating a smooth and comfortable environment for our patients, ensuring high-quality care while supporting the dentist in both clinical and administrative tasks. Key Responsibilities:
  • Patient Care & Comfort: Welcome and prepare patients for treatments or check‑ups, ensuring their comfort and addressing any concerns they may have.
  • Assist with Procedures: Set up instruments, equipment, and materials needed for dental procedures. Assist the dentist through 4‑handed dentistry and ensure the dental room is well‑prepared for each procedure.
  • Instrument Sterilization & Safety: Follow proper sterilization procedures and ensure that all dental instruments are sanitized in compliance with health regulations.
  • Lab Tasks & Post‑Operative Care: Assist with lab tasks as directed and provide patients with post‑operative care instructions.
  • Record Maintenance: Maintain accurate and up‑to‑date patient records, assisting with patient charts, treatment documentation, and payment procedures.
  • Scheduling & Office Support: Assist in scheduling patient appointments and ensuring the office runs smoothly with minimal disruptions. Keep the dental room clean, organized, and well‑stocked.
  • Regulated Tasks: Perform non‑surgical tasks such as coronal polishing, if certified, and assist with other regulated tasks as allowed by local regulations.
Requirements & Qualifications:
  • Experience: A minimum of 5 years of dental assisting experience in a clinical setting.
  • Certification: Dental Assistant Certification (CDA or RDA) is required. Additional certifications such as EFDA (Expanded Function Dental Assistant) or Radiology Certifications are a plus.
  • Skills & Knowledge
    • In-depth knowledge of dental instruments, sterilization methods, and infection control protocols.
    • Familiarity with dental procedures and treatments.
    • Understanding of health and safety regulations in a dental office.
    • Experience with dental practice management software (e.g., Dentrix, Eaglesoft) is highly preferred.
  • Clinical Competence: Ability to perform regulated non‑surgical tasks, such as coronal polishing, and assist with other dental procedures.
  • Communication & Patient Care: Excellent communication skills and the ability to effectively interact with patients, providing clear instructions and ensuring their comfort.
  • Organization & Attention to Detail: Strong organizational skills with an eye for detail and the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
  • Team‑Oriented: Ability to work effectively in a team environment while providing high‑quality patient care.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Additional Certifications: Expanded Functions Dental Assistant (EFDA), Radiology Certification, or Dental Hygiene Assistant certification.
  • Language Skills: Bilingual skills (e.g., Spanish) are a plus but not required.
