EMPLOYMENT STATUS: Full-time

PURPOSE OF POSITION: The position supports orthodontic residents and clinical faculty with basic orthodontic dental assisting, equipment sterilization, and coordination of care with residents and front desk needs for orthodontic patients. We seek a highly motivated dental assistant. Prior experience is preferred but training is available. Candidates should be dependable, eager to learn, and passionate about patient care.

Responsibilities/Duties:

1. Provide service-excellence skills daily to ensure smooth operations with patients, staff, and faculty.
2. Mix dental compounds/cements, prepare orthodontic treatment items, and assist with bonding and debonding procedures.
3. Prepare orthodontic brackets for bonding, assist during patient appointments, and ensure proper documentation for insurance purposes.
4. Pour and finish cast models or prepare e-models.
5. Expose and develop dental radiographs (intra-oral, panorex, cephalometric).
6. Assist with placing/removing orthodontic appliances and taking full records, including 3-D scans and photographs.
7. Prepare patient treatment setups, instruments, and supplies.
8. Sterilize instruments and maintain sterilization records per OSHA and infection control policies.
9. Conduct microbial testing of sterilization equipment and maintain logs.
10. Participate in quality improvement activities and uphold ethical policies.
11. Oversee maintenance and repair of clinic equipment and systems.
12. Maintain instruments and equipment, troubleshoot, and ensure confidentiality.
13. Assist with research projects and incorporate patient records into orthodontic software.
14. Prepare reports, presentations, and inventory tracking using Google Docs and Microsoft Office.
15. Cover front desk as needed for patient intake and coordinate billing efforts with orthodontic billing personnel.
16. Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Pennsylvania Dental Radiograph Certification.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work well in a team.
• Ability to meet attendance and scheduling requirements.

Preferred Qualifications:

• High motivation and organizational skills.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
