Job summary

Compass Health Network in Minnesota is seeking a Dental Assistant to join a mission‑driven, community‑based oral health team. You’ll provide chairside support, promote preventive care, and help patients feel at ease while assisting with procedures and keeping clinics running smoothly.

This is a full‑time, 40‑hour week with a Tuesday‑Friday shift (7:45 a.m. – 6:15 p.m.) and potential travel between clinic sites.

Qualifications

• Dental assisting experience preferred (two years)
• BLS certification or ability to obtain preferred
• Computer literacy in basic office software required

Responsibilities

• Assist dentists and hygienists with procedures (preventive, restorative, surgery, prosthodontics)
• Prepare treatment rooms, instruments, and materials for safe patient care
• Take radiographs, record vital signs, and perform charting and sterilization
• Educate patients on oral hygiene and nutrition impacts on health
• Participate in school-based outreach and PSP program
• Support clinic operations with inventory and administrative tasks
• Travel between clinics and assist with front desk duties when cross-trained

Key Responsibilities

• Assisting dentists and hygienists with a variety of procedures including preventive, restorative, oral surgery, and prosthodontics
• Preparing treatment rooms, instruments, and materials to ensure efficient, safe patient care
• Taking radiographs, vital signs, and performing dental charting and sterilization procedures
• Educating patients on oral hygiene techniques and the impact of nutrition on oral health
• Participating in school-based outreach and the Preventive Services Program (PSP)
• Supporting clinic operations through inventory, maintenance, and administrative tasks
• Traveling to other dental clinics as needed and assisting with front desk duties when cross-trained

Requirements, Skills, Knowledge And ExpertiseHigh School/GED preferred
Work Experience/Training/Additional RequirementsAt least two (2) years dental assisting experience preferred
Computer literate in electronic mail, word processing, and office management system software required
A valid, unrestricted driver's license and agency established minimum automobile coverage upon hire required
BLS certification or ability to obtain required
