Job description

Position: Dental Assistant

Assists the dentist using comprehensive four-handed dentistry techniques. Selects proper instruments and tray setups. Accurately records findings of examinations, completes images using appropriate techniques, and follows infection control standards. Receives and triages patients and notifies the dentist of patient status as needed.

  1. Assists in the dental treatment of patients, including seating the patient, reviewing medical history, and reporting any changes to the dentist.
  2. Takes, develops, and mounts intra- and extra-oral radiographs for diagnosis and treatment. Prepares patients for procedures and assists the dentist by passing instruments, providing necessary equipment, and managing suction and retraction.
  3. Mixes dental materials and monitors patient vital signs and comfort throughout procedures.
  4. Cleans, sterilizes, and assembles instruments and equipment daily.
  5. Requisitions supplies, maintains equipment, and ensures the operatory is well-stocked.
  6. Maintains the clinic's appearance and monitors the area for safety violations.
  7. Performs additional duties as assigned.

Position Compensation Range: $17.65 - $27.36 hourly

Minimum Requirements
  • Education: High School Graduate or Equivalent required. Successful completion of an accredited Dental Radiation Safety Course required.
  • Experience: None required.
  • Licensure: AHA Healthcare Provider BLS certification (to be completed within 90 days of hire). Dental Assistant Certification (within two years of hire).
Physical Demands

Requires sitting/standing for prolonged periods, frequent bending/stooping/traveling, reaching (overhead, extensive, repetitive). Good communication, auditory, and visual skills; attention to detail; ability to lift/push/pull <20 lbs. May be exposed to fumes, chemicals, vibrations, humidity, radiation, noise, blood/body fluids, and infectious diseases.
