Job summary

Matrix Providers seeks a Dental Assistant for Joint Base Andrews, MD. The position supports chairside duties across general dentistry procedures, radiography, and infection control.

Requirements include a high school diploma or GED with an approved pathway, 12+ months of recent experience, BLS, radiography certification, and legal work authorization in the U.S. Competitive benefits and full-time schedule offered.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED plus one approved pathway (CODA-ADA, ARC, or DANB CDA).
• Minimum 12 months of full-time dental assisting experience within the last 36 months.
• Current BLS for Healthcare Providers certification.
• Current dental radiography certification in compliance with 42 CFR Part 75.
• Legal authorization to work in the United States.

Responsibilities

• Provide chairside assistance during restorative, prosthodontic, oral surgery, endodontic, and periodontal procedures.
• Perform authorized dental assisting functions such as impressions and suture removal.
• Take and process diagnostic dental radiographs using digital/traditional X-ray equipment.
• Prepare, sterilize, and maintain instruments, equipment, operatories, and trays per infection control standards.
• Educate patients on posttreatment care, oral hygiene, appliance maintenance, and preventive practices.
• Record medical histories and treatment information in electronic dental records.
• Schedule patients, coordinate referrals, and ensure proper patient handoff between departments.
• Fabricate and prepare study models and custom trays.

Matrix Providers is hiring a Dental Assistant to join our team of talented professionals who provide health care services to our Military Service Members and their families in at Joint Base Andrews, MD.

• Employment Status: Full-Time
• Compensation: $24.70-$26.00/ hour H&W $5.42/hr
• Schedule: Monday through Friday, 7am - 4pm

The Dental Assistant must have and meet the following:

Degree/Education: Candidates must possess a high school diploma or GED equivalent AND successfully complete ONE of the following established pathways:

• Graduation from a Dental Assistant training program accredited by the Commission on Dental Accreditation (CODA) of the American Dental Association (ADA).
• Graduation from a recognized Military Dental Assistant/Technician training program.
• Graduation from an American Red Cross (ARC) Dental Assistant training program.
• Possession of an active, unencumbered Certified Dental Assistant (CDA) credential from the Dental Assisting National Board (DANB)
• Equivalency Determination Request: The Contractor may request an equivalency determination as a substitute for education requirements on this labor category. Such requests will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis by the Government.
• Experience: Candidates must possess a minimum of twelve (12) months of full-time clinical experience as a Dental Assistant within the preceding thirty-six (36) months. Candidate must also possess documented training and proficiency in oral/dental anatomy; dental therapeutics; sterile techniques; dental materials; infection control procedures; radiation physics, biology, and protection; and digital radiographic processing techniques.
• Certifications: Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers, American Heart Association, or American Red Cross Healthcare Provider Course. The HCW shall hold a current certification in dental radiography in compliance with 42 CFR Part 75.
• Requirements: Legal Authorization to Work in the United States.

Dental Assistant Core Job Duties:

• Provide chairside assistance during restorative, prosthodontic, oral surgery, endodontic, and periodontal procedures.
• Perform authorized dental assisting functions, including impressions, suture removal, and placement/removal of dental materials and appliances.
• Take and process diagnostic dental radiographs using digital and traditional Xray equipment.
• Prepare, sterilize, and maintain instruments, equipment, operatories, and surgical trays in accordance with infection control standards.
• Educate patients on posttreatment care, oral hygiene, appliance maintenance, and preventive dental practices.
• Obtain and document medical histories, chart treatment information, and maintain accurate electronic dental records.
• Schedule patients, coordinate referrals, conduct follow-up communications, and ensure proper patient handoff between departments.
• Fabricate and prepare study models and custom impression trays.
• Monitor inventory levels and coordinate supply ordering with logistics personnel.
• Assist with administrative duties, reports, and daily dental clinic operations.
