Job summary

SWCHC, Inc. is seeking a dental assistant to support the Dentist in clinical care and to help maintain dental equipment according to practice standards. You will chair-side assist, take x-rays under supervision, and prepare materials.

The role requires good communication, computer literacy and compliance with ADA/OSHA guidelines. High school diploma or certificate and ICE certification preferred; CPR/BLS and DANB radiation safety certification preferred.

Qualifications

• One to two years prior dental experience preferred.
• DANB Radiation Health and Safety certification or state equivalent.
• CPR/BLS Certified.
• ICE certification required.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Computer literate.

Responsibilities

• Chair-side assistance, passing instruments, oral evacuation, and material prep.
• Take x-rays under Dentist direction.
• Provide coverage for support staff as needed.
• Organise treatment room, instruments, records, radiographs and lab work.
• Conduct blood pressure and health history as needed.
• Disinfects room and operates equipment per OSHA/ADA/CDC guidelines.
• Audit supplies monthly and document as needed.
• Maintain and monitor laboratory procedures and cases.
• Disinfects and sterilises instruments per CDC/OSHA/ADA standards.
• Change dental solutions as outlined in Standards of Clinical Practice Book and maintain records.
• Responsible for equipment care and maintenance.
• Defrosts refrigerator monthly and keep records in chart.
• Update MSDS book and QA manual.
• Performs other duties as assigned by the Dental Director or Dentist.

SUMMARY:

The dental assistant is responsible for assisting the Dentist in the clinical care of a patient and for maintaining the dental equipment as outlined by the Dental Standards of Clinical Practice.

SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Always assists the Dentist chair side, including passing and receiving of instruments, oral evacuation and retraction and preparation of materials.
• Takes x-rays under direction of Dentist.
• Provides coverage for support staff as needed.
• Organises treatment room for each patient, including instruments, records, radiographs, and lab work.
• Conducts blood pressure and health history information as needed.
• Disinfects treatment room and operates equipment in accordance with OSHA, ADA, and CDC infection control guidelines.
• Audits supplies monthly and documents as needed.
• Maintains and monitors laboratory procedures and cases.
• Disinfects and sterilises instruments according to CDC/OSHA/ADA standards.
• Changes dental solutions as outlined in Standards of Clinical Practice Book and maintains record manual.
