Job summary

Commonwealth Dentistry in Ashland, VA is seeking a full-time Dental Assistant to support clinicians, manage patient flow and assist with procedures. You will maintain dental instruments and supplies, prepare materials, perform charting, sterilization and room turnover, and provide compassionate patient care while adapting to the needs of a busy practice, including occasional travel to other locations.

Must be X-ray certified and CPR certified within 30 days of hire; strong teamwork, reliability,

Qualifications

  • X-ray certification required.
  • CPR certification required or within 30 days of hire.
  • Ability to present clinical information clearly to patients and understand insurance details.

Responsibilities

  • Assists the dentist providing dental treatment.
  • Functions as a treatment coordinator and prepares and presents treatment plans to patient.
  • Schedules patient appointments to fit patient needs and practice flow.
  • Maintains dental instruments, supplies and equipment.
  • Collects and records patient health histories.
  • Assists with patient management during dental procedures.
  • Completes instrument cleaning, sterilization and room turnover after procedures.
  • Prepares dental materials and equipment for scheduled treatment.
  • Completes dental charting and documentation.
  • Inventory supply management and other ancillary duties.
  • Calls to confirm appointments and communicates any changes to patients.
  • Escalates issues to Office Manager as needed.

KEY COMPETENCIES

  • Completes dental charting
  • Is responsible for inventory supply and other ancillary duties

  • Escalating issues to Office Manager
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Requirements
  • X-ray certified
  • CPR certified, or will become CPR certified within 30 days of hire
  • Ability to professionally present clinical information regarding treatment plans and insurance information to patients.
