At North Atlanta Aesthetic Dentistry, led by Dr. Gurley, we are seeking a dedicated and personable Dental Assistant to join our exceptional team in Alpharetta, GA. As a key member of our clinical staff, the Dental Assistant will support the delivery of top-tier aesthetic and general dental care, ensuring every patient has a positive, comfortable, and efficient experience from start to finish.

You’ll play an integral role in maintaining the high standards our practice is known for, assisting during procedures, preparing and sterilizing instruments, managing patient records, and contributing to a seamless workflow throughout the office.

Responsibilities

Prepare and maintain treatment rooms

  • Set up operatories with necessary instruments, materials, and equipment before each patient visit
  • Disinfect and sterilize all surfaces, equipment, and tools in accordance with OSHA and CDC guidelines
  • Ensure rooms are clean, organized, and fully stocked throughout the day

Assist the dentist during clinical procedures

  • Provide direct chairside assistance to Dr. Gurley during exams, cleanings, and a wide range of cosmetic and restorative treatments
  • Anticipate the provider’s needs to support a seamless workflow during procedures
  • Use suction devices, retractors, and other tools to maintain patient comfort and visibility for the dentist

Take and process dental radiographs (X-rays)

  • Capture high-quality digital images following established safety protocols
  • Ensure proper positioning and comfort for patients during imaging
  • Review and organize X-rays for use in diagnosis and treatment planning

Welcome and prepare patients for treatment

  • Greet patients warmly and guide them through the appointment process with professionalism and empathy
  • Review health histories and update charts before treatment
  • Clearly explain procedures to help reduce patient anxiety and ensure informed consent

Manage and maintain dental supply inventory

  • Monitor stock levels of dental materials and equipment
  • Coordinate with vendors and administrative staff to reorder supplies as needed
  • Ensure timely rotation and disposal of expired products
  • Enter treatment notes, X-ray findings, and procedural details into the patient record system promptly and accurately
  • Assist in creating and reviewing treatment plans with patients as directed by the dentist

Ensure infection control compliance

  • Follow all sterilization, disinfection, and safety protocols to prevent cross-contamination
  • Adhere to HIPAA and OSHA regulations for patient privacy and workplace safety

Support front office operations as needed

  • Occasionally assist with patient check-in/check-out and scheduling when front desk support is required
  • Communicate effectively with administrative team members to ensure smooth daily operations
  • Attend staff meetings, training sessions, and continuing education opportunities
  • Stay informed of new dental techniques, materials, and technologies relevant to the role

Qualifications

Experience:
  • Minimum of 1–2 years of experience working as a dental assistant in a general, cosmetic, or aesthetic dental practice
  • Familiarity with assisting in procedures such as crowns, veneers, implants, whitening, and routine cleanings
  • Experience working in a fast-paced, patient-centered environment
Skills:
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills—able to explain procedures clearly and communicate effectively with both patients and team members
  • Strong interpersonal and customer service skills with the ability to build rapport and put patients at ease
  • Solid clinical skills, including instrument handling, suctioning, dental material prep, and chairside support
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail—able to manage time effectively and ensure procedural accuracy
  • Basic understanding of dental terminology and charting practices
  • Comfort using digital X-ray systems and dental practice management software (e.g., Dentrix, Eaglesoft, or similar platforms)
Education:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Formal dental assistant training from an accredited program preferred, but not required
Certifications (Preferred, Not Required):
  • Radiology certification or willingness to obtain within a specified timeframe
  • CPR/BLS certification
  • Infection control or OSHA training a plus
