Job summary

Westchester Medical Center Health Network is seeking a Denials Specialist to analyze and report on Denial Management functions. The role enables reporting to track denial write-offs and optimize net revenue recognition while maintaining process integrity.

The candidate should have 2–3 years in revenue cycle or denials management and a Bachelor’s degree in a related field. Strong data analysis, communication, and multitasking skills are required to collaborate with clinical and revenue teams.

Qualifications

• Experience: A minimum of two to three years of experience in revenue cycle, denials management or related patient financial services.
• Education: Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, or healthcare administration preferred; equivalent work experience may substitute degree requirement
• Special Requirements: Knowledge of healthcare management, Medicaid and Medicare; experience in denial activities and collection processes; knowledge of payer reimbursement; understanding impact on Revenue Cycle operations.

Responsibilities

• Coordinates all data collection, analysis, appeal, write-off and reporting activities affecting the denial process.
• Communicates with clinical departments, on-site staff, and Patient Access and Mid-Cycle coordinators to reduce recurring denials and establishes prevention measures.
• Ensures that denial management activities meet department requirements, maximizes revenue collection, and achieves leading practice performance.
• Monitors denial write-offs to ensure correct write-off codes are used.
• Monitors denial vendor relationships for compliance and performance; suggests modifications to Revenue Cycle leadership.
• Provides denial trends to Billing Functional Leader for operational improvement.
• Works with Local System Coding leaders to determine changes for DRGs, CPT, and ICD PX denials.
