Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; degree preferred.
• 2–3 years in Substance abuse Billing, Coding and Collections.
• Knowledge of Third-Party payers and reimbursement methods.
• Proficiency with Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and EMR systems.
• Ability to handle confidential information and HIPAA compliance.

Responsibilities

• Promote mission and values; provide excellent client service.
• Enter data and notes accurately in the electronic system for follow up.
• Assist with follow up on claims to ensure payment to the agency.
• Verify client eligibility and payment responsibility with payers (co-pays, deductibles).
• Assist with follow-up on denials, appeals, and reconsiderations.
• Handle billing tasks related to insurance, grant, and client billing.
• Investigate denied claims and re-process or appeal as needed.
• Identify denial patterns and notify senior management of delays.
• Contact insurance companies regarding outstanding accounts.
