Job summary

Smith-Rowe,-LL is seeking an entry level Demolition Laborer to support concrete cutting, torching and bridge demolition activities on our construction projects. This position offers hands-on experience and the chance to grow within the company.

You will assist crew members, handle rubble removal, operate hand tools, and comply with safety policies. Must have at least 1 year of manual labor, ability to read plans preferred, and willingness to travel and work overtime.

Qualifications

• 1 year manual labor experience.
• Ability to read and understand construction plans (preferred).
• Experience in bridge demolition preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist crew with removal of rubble.
• Lift, load, and carry heavy objects for debris removal.
• Assist with flagging.
• Use hand tools such as a hammer, shovels, chainsaws, drills, hydraulic tools.

Position Overview: The position of a Demolition Laborer is an entry level position and assists with demolition activities, concrete cutting, torching and general bridge demolition and construction.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Assist crew members with the removal of rubble
• Lift, load, and carry heavy objects for debris removal
• Assist with flagging
• Able to use hand tools such as a hammer, shovels, chainsaws, drills, hydraulic tools, etc.

Education and/or Experience:

• 1 year manual labor experience
• Ability to read and understand construction plans, preferred
• Experience in bridge demolition preferred

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:

• Ability to understand and follow oral instructions; communicate with supervisors, co-workers and the public effectively
• Able to comply with all safety policies and procedures and OSHA regulations
• Able to comply with all company policies and procedures
• Must be able to travel out of town and work overtime when required
• Must be able to work varying shifts and weekends
• Must have a strong work ethic
• Valid driver’s license, preferred
• Must be able to pass a pre-employment and random drug screen

Physical Demands:

• Able to lift and carry up to 50 + pounds
• Able to stand, kneel, squat, bend, push, pull, climb, stretch, see, and hear regularly while performing the essential functions of the job
• Able to push and pull with hands and arms and move repetitivelyAble to be alert and cognitive of multiple concurrent activities of the construction site, including awareness of other employees, subcontractors, machinery, equipment, and moving traffic when applicable
• Coordination between hand, eyes, feet to guide tools, equipment and objects is required
• Able walk and work on uneven terrain

Environmental Working Conditions:

• All work is performed outside in all types of various weather (i.e. heat, cold, wind, sun, and inclement weather, etc.).
• Exposure to all elements of nature
• Exposure to all types of terrain
