The New York City Department of City Planning is seeking a City Research Scientist to lead population analysis for NYC planning initiatives. You will research difficult-to-enumerate housing units, analyze census data, and contribute to citywide population estimates and projections as part of a collaborative team.

The role requires advanced training in demographic analysis, strong writing and presentation skills, and the ability to work both independently and in teams.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in demographic analysis and quantitative research methods.
• Doctorate or PhD in a relevant field with supervisory/leadership experience preferred.
• At least two years of full-time research experience for senior levels.

Responsabilités

• Conduct research into housing and population data to support 2030 Census preparations.
• Analyze population data for needs assessments, policy development, and program planning.
• Write reports on demographic and socioeconomic topics for decision-makers and the public.
• Develop innovative methods for small area population estimates and publish in peer-reviewed journals.
• Present demographic topics to diverse audiences, including city planners and other agencies.
• Support population projections for NYC and neighborhood geographies.
• Assist in QA of data files and document methodologies.
