Job summary

Wesleyan University is seeking a Program Manager to launch and oversee DEMOCRACY250, a national, nonpartisan initiative designed to prepare college students to engage in democratic processes. The role includes leading planning, partnerships, student recruitment, and training across campus and partner institutions.

The position is a full-time, two-year term with relocation assistance available for qualifying candidates.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in public policy, political science, public administration, higher education, nonprofit management, or a related field.
• At least five years of progressively responsible program management or civic engagement experience.
• Experience partnering with universities and external stakeholders.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead the planning, design, and implementation of DEMOCRACY250 programming and student engagement initiatives.
• Develop and oversee the Democracy Stewards corps, including recruitment, onboarding, and mentorship.
• Collaborate with faculty leadership and external partners to design training modules on democratic institutions and ethical civic participation.
• Monitor program timelines, communications, and budget tracking across campus and partner institutions.
• Supervise the Program Fellow and ensure efficient logistics and program operations.
• Prepare reports and evaluation materials for university leadership and external partners.
