Job summary

MISUMI Americas, a division of MISUMI Group, is seeking an Applied Content Engineer to design and build real-world engineering systems, demo platforms, and training kits that showcase MISUMI components. You will translate product capabilities into tangible systems that illustrate speed, modularity, and scalability for engineers and students.

Based in Chicago, this role involves creating CAD models and BOMs, prototyping, documentation, and collaboration with marketing and instructional teams.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
  • 3–5 years of experience in mechanical design, systems engineering, or product development.
  • Strong CAD and assembly design skills with parametric modeling experience preferred.
  • Hands-on fabrication and prototyping experience (machining, 3D printing, assembly).
  • Strong systems-thinking and ability to communicate designs clearly to engineers and non-engineers.

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop demonstration systems highlighting real-world use cases (automation cells, jigs/fixtures, motion systems).
  • Create CAD models, assemblies, and Bills of Materials (BOMs) using MISUMI-sourced components.
  • Build and test physical training kits and modular systems for university and customer use.
  • Document system designs with clear technical narratives, instructions, and supporting materials.
  • Collaborate with instructional designers to translate systems into learning experiences.
  • Partner with marketing to develop application-driven content (videos, case studies, walkthroughs).
  • Identify product gaps and provide feedback to product management.
  • Iterate demo systems based on user feedback and market needs.
