Job summary

HD Supply is seeking a senior professional to optimize demand planning and forecast accuracy across the enterprise. You will lead cross-functional collaboration with Merchandising, Sales, Marketing, Inventory, and Finance to incorporate new products, retire old ones, and respond to regulatory changes and promotions.

The role emphasizes analytics, data retrieval, and translating complex datasets into exec-level presentations to guide decisions.

Qualifications

  • Advanced degree may offset less experience in some disciplines.

  • Identifies forecast discrepancies, risks, and opportunities and closes gaps.
  • Creates statistical forecasts and translates data into executive presentations.

Job description

Responsible for utilizing sales and operations processes, tools, and methodologies to improve demand planning strategy and accuracy.

Major Tasks, Responsibilities, and Key Accountabilities
  • Supports the development and execution of the enterprise sales and operations process for all business segments and sales verticals.
  • Assists in day-to-day demand planning, including but not limited to developing a repeatable process, developing “one-off” and recurring demand analytics, and delivering the total demand and supply plan/forecast through each process cycle.
  • Develops and implements robust metrics and reporting on forecast accuracy and issues. Utilizes metrics to understand root cause and drive continuous improvement in planning accuracy.
  • Coordinates all facets of the sales and operations process to provide an optimum customer service level and working capital/inventory performance. Researches, documents, shares, and implements best practice distribution industry processes and methods.
  • Identifies and reconciles forecast discrepancies, risks and opportunities, and works to close gaps.
  • Creates statistical forecasts and identifies and quantifies risk using established quantitative methods and application software. Retrieves, refines and analyzes data; translates complex data sets into executive level presentations.
  • Collaborates with Merchandising, Sales, Marketing, Inventory, and Finance to incorporate the on-boarding of new products, retirement of old products, customer‑specific inventory requirements, regulatory changes, and promotions into the demand planning process.
Nature and Scope
  • Solutions require analysis and investigation.
  • Achieves planned results by decisions and actions based on professional methods, business principles, and practical experience.
  • Manages a group or team of professional individual contributors and/or indirectly supervises support staff.
  • Located in a comfortable indoor area. Any unpleasant conditions would be infrequent and not objectionable.
  • Most of the time is spent sitting in a comfortable position and there is frequent opportunity to move about. On rare occasions there may be a need to move or lift light articles.
  • Typically requires overnight travel less than 10% of the time.
Education and Experience
  • Typically requires BS/BA in a related discipline. Generally 7+ years of experience in a related field. May require certification. Advanced degree may offset less experience in some disciplines.
