Job summary

Comfrt, a fast-growing direct-to-consumer brand focused on comfort and mental wellness, is hiring a Demand Planner with retail experience to support financial planning and inventory strategy across ecommerce, DTC, and retail stores.

Reporting to the Director of Planning, you will build demand forecasts by channel and product, support seasonal buys, analyze sell-through and inventory health, and partner with Merchandising, Operations, Ecommerce, Retail, and Marketing to align supply with

Qualifications

  • 3–5 years in retail operations, store management, inventory or demand forecasting.
  • Experience with retail math and DTC/ecommerce business models.
  • Experience analyzing store performance and executing merchandising strategies.

Responsibilities

  • Support financial and operational planning across DTC channels and retail, including sales projections, inventory tracking, and performance analysis.
  • Assist with seasonal buy planning, data analysis, assortment recommendations, and execution support.
  • Build and maintain demand forecasts by channel, category and customer segment under director guidance.
  • Execute weekly replenishment processes, including SKU-level projections and channel allocation.
  • Analyze sell-through, margin and inventory performance to identify optimization opportunities.
  • Collaborate with Merchandising, Operations, Ecommerce, Fulfillment, Retail, and Marketing on supply planning and promotions.

Role Overview

Comfrt is seeking a Demand Planner with retail experience to support financial planning and inventory strategy across our dynamic ecommerce, direct-to-consumer, and retail operations. This is an excellent opportunity to leverage retail expertise while developing planning acumen, working with customer data, channel insights, and financial models to drive revenue optimization and inventory efficiency across our owned channels.

Reporting to the Director of Planning, this individual will assist with comprehensive financial planning, inventory management, and demand forecasting across DTC channels and our retail stores. This role offers hands-on experience in financial modeling, seasonal buy planning, inventory analytics, and data-driven decision-making while bringing valuable store-level insights to the planning function.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support financial and operational planning across DTC channels and retail, including sales projections, inventory tracking, and performance analysis against company targets.
  • Assist with seasonal buy planning, including data analysis, assortment recommendations, and execution support.
  • Build and maintain demand forecasts by channel, category, and customer segment under director guidance, supporting buying and production decisions.
  • Execute weekly core and seasonal replenishment processes, including SKU-level projections, inventory positioning, and channel allocation.
  • Analyze sell-through, margin, and inventory performance to identify opportunities for optimization, reorders, and assortment adjustments.
  • Leverage retail floor experience to inform inventory allocation, visual merchandising recommendations, and store-level assortment strategy.
  • Support margin and DTC performance reporting, providing clear insights into inventory health, channel performance, and key metrics.
  • Assist with seasonal buy sheet development and communicate requirements across cross-functional teams.
  • Prepare financial analysis and modeling to support planning decisions and leadership recommendations.
  • Gather and synthesize data to support inventory planning and allocation decisions across channels and retail locations.
  • Partner with Merchandising, Operations, Ecommerce, Fulfillment, Retail, and Marketing teams to support supply planning and promotional alignment.
  • Leverage analytics and data modeling to identify trends and improvement opportunities in forecasting and inventory management.
  • Apply retail insights to inform planning decisions, including store performance drivers, customer preferences, and seasonal demand patterns.
  • Maintain and improve planning spreadsheets, reports, and operational dashboards.
  • Support quarterly business reviews and performance analyses for leadership.
  • Continuously learn planning processes, tools, and best practices to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
Skills and Experience
  • 3–5 years of experience in retail operations, store management, inventory management, demand forecasting, or related analytical roles, with at least 2 years in a retail environment.
  • Solid understanding of inventory management, demand forecasting fundamentals, retail mathematics, and DTC/ecommerce business models.
  • Demonstrated experience managing retail inventory, analyzing store performance, and executing merchandising strategies.
  • Strong knowledge of sell-through, inventory turn, markdown strategy, and retail profitability drivers.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Merchandising, Finance, Statistics, Economics, or a related field (or equivalent retail operations experience).
  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills, including pivot tables, formulas, and data visualization.
  • Experience with planning, forecasting, and business intelligence platforms such as NetSuite, Shopify, Looker, Tableau, or similar tools; ability to quickly learn new systems.
  • Experience with retail management systems and/or POS software.
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills with the ability to work with data and translate findings into insights.
  • Good organizational and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to work effectively across cross‑functional teams.
  • Detail‑oriented with a focus on accuracy and continuous improvement.
