Job summary

The Michaels Companies Inc. in Irving, TX is seeking a Demand Planner to develop and execute demand forecasts to meet sales, gross margin, and inventory objectives. You will integrate forecasting with replenishment and collaborate across Sales, Pricing, Inventory, and Store Operations.

Responsibilities include building forecast models in Blue Yonder (JDA), analyzing trends, seasonality, and promotions, presenting insights to cross-functional teams, and maintaining planning documentation.

Qualifications

  • 4-year college degree or equivalent experience.
  • 3+ years of Demand Forecasting, Financial Planning or similar analytical role.
  • Strong skills in Excel; familiarity with Access is a plus.
  • Experience with Blue Yonder (JDA) Demand forecasting preferred.
  • Excellent communication and presentation abilities.

  • Analyze sales trends, seasonality and promotions to build forecasts.
  • Collaborate with Sales, Pricing, Inventory, and Store Operations to refine forecasts.
  • Present forecasts at monthly alignment meetings and maintain process documentation.
  • Share forecast insights with planning and fulfillment teams; support inventory decisions.

Job description

Support Center - IrvingDemand Planners are responsible for developing and executing demand forecasts to enable the company to achieve sales, gross margin, and inventory objectives. As a Demand Planner you will be the integration point into the sales forecasting and replenishment of product. You will create and maintain forecast models, incorporate business intelligence, and collaborate with other members of the organization including Category Management, Inventory Management, Pricing, Space Planning, Vendor Community and Store Operations.

Major Activities
  • Own multi-level unit demand forecasts using statistical models in the Blue Yonder (JDA) system
  • Analyze sales trends, seasonality, promotions, and space changes to build robust Peak Season forecasts
  • Create demand forecasts to ensure proper inventory levels to drive promotional events and inventory in-stocks after event
  • Present to cross-functional team and leaders at monthly forecast alignment and other miles-stone meetings
  • Evolve and maintain documentation for demand planning processes and systems
  • Collaborate with Product and Pricing teams to refine forecasts based on updated sales assumptions and strategic changes within the business
  • Participate in cross functional strategic initiatives
  • Share forecast insights with financial planning and fulfillment teams on key trend shifts
  • Actively seek insight on global business metrics such as sales and trends to refine forecast and drive sales
  • Partner with fulfillment team to address and resolve inventory issues
  • Participate in training of new hires
Minimum Education
  • 4-year college degree or equivalent experience
Minimum Special Certifications or technical skills
  • Microsoft Office
    • Excel
    • Access (familiarity)
Minimum Type of experience the job requires
  • 3+ years of experience
  • Demand Forecasting, Financial Planning or other analytical decision making
