Job summary

Process Alliance in Indianapolis, Indiana, seeks an experienced DeltaV Configuration Engineer to translate FR/DS into DeltaV Batch DCS configuration, modules, phases, and recipes for compliant manufacturing.

You will collaborate with process engineering and cell owners to convert narratives and P&IDs into control logic and HMI graphics, ensuring ISA-88, GMP, and CSV standards throughout development, testing, and startup.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Chemical, Electrical, or Controls Engineering, or equivalent hands-on experience.
  • 5+ years of hands-on DeltaV Batch DCS configuration/coding in pharma or regulated manufacturing.
  • Independent development of DCS code from FR and DS with minimal oversight.
  • Knowledge of ISA-88 batch standards, GMP, and CSV documentation practices.
  • Strong attention to detail and documentation skills.
  • DeltaV 7009 and 7016 certifications.

Responsibilities

  • Independently develop DeltaV Batch DCS configuration, control modules, phases, and recipes based on FR/DS.
  • Translate process narratives and P&IDs into control logic and HMI graphics.
  • Ensure code complies with ISA-88, site standards, and GMP requirements.
  • Coordinate with process engineering to clarify requirements and ensure alignment.
  • Participate in internal design and code reviews to verify compliance with requirements.
  • Maintain code version control, revision history, and change documentation.
  • Support troubleshooting and debugging of DeltaV configuration during testing, commissioning, and startup.
  • Document configuration activities per CSV and quality requirements.
  • Support FAT and SAT as SME for developed code.

Position Overview

This role sits within the Automation and Computer System Validation (CSV) division and is responsible for independently developing DeltaV Batch DCS configuration and code based on developing Functional Requirements (FR) and Design Specifications (DS) . The engineer works closely with process engineering and process cell owners to translate process narratives and P&IDs into control logic, control modules, phases, recipes, and graphics that support reliable, compliant manufacturing operations. This role is well suited to a hands-on DeltaV Configuration Engineer who can take specifications and independently develop working, standards-compliant code with minimal oversight.


Key Responsibilities


  • - Independently develop DeltaV Batch DCS configuration, control modules, phases, and recipes based on Functional Requirements and Design Specifications

  • - Translate process engineering narratives and process P&IDs into control logic and HMI graphics

  • - Ensure all code developed complies with ISA-88 batch standards, site automation standards, and GMP requirements

  • - Coordinate with process engineering and process cell owners to clarify requirements and confirm alignment throughout development

  • - Participate in internal design and code reviews to verify compliance with functional requirements, specifications, and standards

  • - Maintain code version control, revision history, and change documentation

  • - Support troubleshooting and debugging of DeltaV configuration during testing, commissioning, and startup

  • - Document configuration development activities in accordance with CSV and quality requirements

  • - Support Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) and Site Acceptance Testing (SAT) as the subject matter expert for developed code


Qualifications:


  • - Bachelor's degree in Chemical, Electrical, or Controls Engineering, or equivalent hands-on experience

  • - 5+ years of hands-on DeltaV Batch DCS configuration/coding experience in pharmaceutical or regulated manufacturing

  • - Demonstrated ability to independently develop DCS code from FR and DS with minimal oversight

  • - Working knowledge of ISA-88 batch standards, GMP, and CSV documentation practices

  • - Strong attention to detail and documentation skills

  • - DeltaV 7009 and 7016 certifications


Additional Preferences:


  • - Experience in pharmaceutical or other regulated manufacturing environments

  • - Experience supporting new/greenfield facility startups

  • - Experience with electronic test management systems (e.G., Kneat, ALM)
