Job summary

BiRite Foodservice Distributors seeks a Transportation Router in Brisbane, CA to plan and optimize outbound routes for a high-volume food distribution operation. You will balance loads for DOT compliance, generate daily routes in RoadNet, and coordinate with drivers and warehouse staff.

The role reports to the Transportation Manager and requires 2+ years in routing/dispatch with DOT knowledge. This is a full-time, non-exempt position with 1:00 pm – 9:30 pm schedule and on-site work.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; logistics coursework is a plus.
• 2+ years in route planning, dispatch, or transportation logistics (food distribution preferred).
• Proficiency with routing software RoadNet, TMS platforms, and Excel.
• Working knowledge of DOT regulations, HOS rules, and load planning.
• Strong attention to detail and problem-solving under pressure.
• Effective communicator with good organizational and time management skills.
• Bilingual English/Spanish a plus; AS400 or Google Suite experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Routing and load planning for outbound deliveries.
• Use RoadNet Anywhere to generate daily routes based on orders and windows.
• Balance loads to DOT standards, axle distribution, and HOS rules.
• Create and maintain standard route templates in RoadNet.
• Make real-time route adjustments for traffic or late orders.
• Develop profitable delivery routes and reduce mileage.
• Analyze routing data to improve performance.
• Coordinate with Shuttle Drivers and Night Warehouse staff.
• Maintain routing schedules, shipping instructions, and records.
• Support cost-reduction and service-improvement initiatives.
• Communicate load and route assignments to drivers daily.
