USD 489 Nutrition Services seeks a Driver/Warehouse Assistant to support kitchen storerooms, load/unload items, and deliver meals between base and satellite kitchens. The role requires reading labels, driving responsibilities, and maintaining clean, organized facilities.

You will assist with maintenance tasks and collaborate with the Director and Coordinator. Ideal candidates are high school graduates with a valid Kansas driver’s license and a strong work ethic.

Qualifications

Responsabilités

• Help organize kitchen storerooms and freezers; assist staff in storing deliveries.
• Load and unload food and equipment.
• Operate food delivery truck.
• Deliver nonfood items between buildings and to satellite kitchens.
• Deliver meals from base kitchens to satellite kitchens.
• Follow HACCP recommendations for food handling.
• Haul equipment to and from central storage and schools.
• Maintain records of deliveries and inventory via computer entry; notify when stock needs reordering.
• Keep storeroom and truck clean and organized.
• Perform deep cleaning and maintenance tasks in summer as directed.
• Maintain organization of outside freezers at schools.
• Rotate items according to FIFO.
• Assist in receiving deliveries on non-school days.
• Coordinate with district for truck repairs and servicing.
• Perform small equipment repairs.
• Assist Director/Coordinator in errands for the department.
• Assist in kitchens during staff shortages.
• Assist Maintenance in kitchen equipment repairs and transporting.
• Other duties as assigned by Director or Coordinator.

Essential Job Functions:

• 1. Helps organize kitchen storerooms and freezers. Assists staff in putting away delivered items.
• 2. Loads and unloads food and equipment.
• 3. Operates food delivery truck.
• 4. Delivers nonfood items from central storeroom to buildings and other food/nonfood items between buildings.
• 5. Delivers meals from base kitchens to satellite kitchens.
• 6. Utilizes the HACCP (Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point) recommendations for food handling.
• 7. Hauls equipment to and from central storage and schools.
• 8. Keeps accurate record via computer entry of deliveries and central storeroom inventory. Notify Coordinator when storeroom products need reordered.
• 9. Keeps central storeroom and truck neat, orderly, and in clean condition.
• 11. In summer months, does deep cleaning and other maintenance tasks for kitchens as directed by the Nutrition Coordinator.
• 12. Maintains organization of outside freezers at schools.
• 13. Rotates items according to FIFO (First In/First Out).
• 14. Assists in receiving school deliveries (e.g. milk, produce) on non-school days.
• 16. Notifies Coordinator when truck needs repair or servicing. Works with the district mechanic to time repairs outside delivery schedules whenever possible.
• 17. Performs small equipment repairs.
• 18. Assists Director and Coordinator in running errands for the department (i.e. picking up allergy food at the grocery store).
• 19. Assist in kitchens during times of staff shortage as directed by the Coordinator or Director.
• 20. Assists Maintenance technicians in kitchen equipment repairs and transporting.
• 21. Other duties as assigned by Director or Coordinator

Special Physical Requirements:

• 1. Requires working in confined spaces
• 2. Requires prolonged standing and working on one's feet
• 3. Requires moving, lifting, carrying, pulling or pushing heavy objects or materials of up to 50 lbs.
• 4. Requires frequent squatting, kneeling, bending, and reaching
• 5. May work in noisy and crowded area
• 6. Must be able to tolerate both heat and cold
• 7. Must pass background check before being employed by district
