Job summary

Citarella in Bronx, NY seeks an experienced Non-CDL Box Truck Delivery Driver to join our Distribution Center team. You will safely transport and deliver products across the tri-state area, maintain delivery accuracy, and uphold exceptional service standards.

Open availability is required; a valid driver's license and a current DOT Medical Examiner's Certificate are needed. CDL is not required, but you must follow DOT regulations, load and unload merchandise, and document deliveries accurately.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

Role Overview

Citarella is seeking an experienced, dependableNon-CDL Box Truck Delivery Driver to join our Distribution Center team in the Bronx. In this role, you'll safely transport and deliver products to assigned locations throughout the tri-state area while ensuring timely deliveries, accurate order handling, and exceptional service.

The ideal candidate has at least three years of box truck driving experience, a strong understanding of local routes, and a commitment to safe driving and reliable delivery operations.

A CDL is not required; however, candidates must possess a valid driver's license and a current DOT Medical Examiner's Certificate (DOT medical card), or obtain the certificate before beginning employment.

Key Responsibilities

• Safely operate a non-CDL box truck to transport and deliver products along assigned routes.
• Load, secure, transport, and unload merchandise according to company procedures.
• Review delivery orders and verify product quantities and accuracy before departure.
• Complete deliveries efficiently while maintaining product quality and handling standards.
• Perform required pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections, reporting maintenance or safety concerns promptly.
• Maintain communication with dispatch and distribution center leadership regarding delivery status, delays, and route changes.
• Obtain delivery confirmations and maintain accurate delivery documentation.
• Follow all applicable traffic laws, DOT regulations, and company safety procedures.
• Safely operate hand trucks, dollies, and other delivery equipment.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and properly functioning delivery vehicle.
• Provide professional, courteous service when interacting with store teams, customers, and delivery recipients.
• Report delivery discrepancies, damaged products, or operational concerns to management.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications & Experience

• Minimum of 3 years of professional box truck driving experience required.
• Valid driver's license required; CDL not required.
• Current DOT Medical Examiner's Certificate (DOT medical card), or ability to obtain one before employment begins, required.
• Safe driving history that meets company and applicable regulatory requirements.
• Experience navigating New York City and the surrounding tri-state area.
• Ability to safely operate a box truck, including backing, parking, maneuvering, and navigating urban delivery locations.
• Experience loading, unloading, and securing merchandise for transportation.
• Strong time management, organizational, and communication skills.
• Dependable, punctual, and able to work independently while meeting delivery schedules.
• Ability to follow delivery instructions and complete required documentation.

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous delivery experience in food distribution, grocery, retail, or refrigerated transportation.
• Familiarity with temperature-sensitive products and proper food handling procedures.
• Bilingual communication skills in English and Spanish.

Physical & Scheduling Requirements

• Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull merchandise while loading and unloading delivery vehicles.
• Ability to use hand trucks, dollies, and other material-handling equipment safely.
• Ability to perform repetitive physical tasks, including standing, walking, bending, and climbing in and out of the vehicle.
• Ability to work in varying weather conditions and temperature-controlled environments.
• Open availability required, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays, based on operational needs.
• Schedule and assigned routes may vary.
