About the Role:
You will:
- Operate trucks safely and in compliance with Company rules, applicable laws, and regulations. Destinations include job sites, customer facilities, vendor facilities, other Hajoca locations, facilities of other wholesalers, or other locations as directed by management.
- Load the truck at the Profit Center with Hajoca merchandise to be delivered. Secure the load properly so that nothing will shift, get damaged, or fall from the truck. Ensure that the necessary equipment to safely unload the merchandise is available.
- Understand the shipping documents associated with each delivery and have accurate directions to each destination.
- Review shipping documentation for accuracy.
- Unload merchandise at the delivery site, placing it as requested, and obtain signatures per company policy.
- Collect and secure payments for cash sale deliveries prior to releasing merchandise.
- Work with customers to resolve shipping discrepancies quickly and accurately.
- Load the truck at other locations with merchandise, including vendor pickups, customer returns, and other wholesalers.
- Provide sales leads by noting prospective customer information discovered during deliveries.
- Inspect the truck and required parts for safe operation before departure, and keep the vehicle clean.
- Report any mechanical issues to management and complete vehicle inspection reports as required.
- At the end of the day, remove keys from the truck and store them properly.
- Complete safety and compliance training as assigned.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
About You:
- You must be able to drive a vehicle over 10,000 lbs. As a non-CDL driver, you should:
- Be at least 21 years old
- Possess a valid driver's license
- Have a driving record that meets company criteria for an Authorized Driver
- Pass a Department of Transportation physical exam before starting and every two years thereafter
Additionally, you should:
- Know the laws and regulations for driving motor vehicles, especially those governed by the Department of Transportation.
- Practice safety precautions in warehouse and material handling environments.
- Build positive relationships with customers, vendors, and co-workers.
- Remain calm and effective in stressful or emergency situations.
- Learn to operate warehouse material-handling equipment and computer systems used in delivery.
- Read, write, speak, and understand English.
- Perform basic math operations involving whole numbers, fractions, and decimals.
