Description

Pay Rate: $10.50/hour * Schedule: Monday - Friday 7:30AM-3:30PM (flexible) * Hours: 40 hours/week * Supervisor: District Consultant Librarian * Department: YCLS Delivery * Location: Martin Library

The Delivery Driver loads and unloads library materials and safely transports them to their destinations in York and Adams counties.

Position Requirements

General Requirements

It is important that the candidate be a reliable self-starter and be able to function under limited supervision. Must be able to lift up to 60 pounds from ground level to waist level and be able to bend, squat, and kneel occasionally throughout work shift.

Education & Experience Requirements

A high school diploma or equivalent is required. A valid driver’s license, clean driving record, and at least 3 years driving experience are required. Child Abuse clearance, Pennsylvania Criminal History Check, FBI Criminal Record Check and Mandated Reporter Training is required.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Drives full-size cargo van and transports materials to and from libraries in York and Adams Counties.
  • Loads and unloads boxes and materials to and from the delivery vehicle.
  • Assists with the packing and unpacking of materials to be delivered as needed.
  • Uses GPS navigation.
  • Communicates with library staff to ensure that delivered items are placed in the proper location.
  • Practices safety rules and obeys traffic regulations.
  • Maintains vehicle in clean and serviceable condition.
  • Responsible for scheduling routine service maintenance such as gas replenishing and oil changes.
  • Responsible for managing fuel card and tracking charges.
  • Meets with Facilities Manager and other delivery drivers to discuss special delivery projects and scheduling priorities.
  • Must follow rules and regulations as detailed in the Driver’s Manual.
  • Report all accidents and incidents involving drivers or company equipment.
  • Maintain a driver history in good standing and immediately report any changes to the driver record to the supervisor.
