Delivery Driver - CDL (Minneapolis, MN) (Minneapolis, MN)

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Deliver and pick up products to customers and get receiving tickets signed.
  2. Act as the face of the Company in the customer environment.
  3. Assist dispatcher with planning route to ensure the most economical use of time and equipment.
  4. Maintain contact with the dispatcher on a continuous basis and report any delays or problems.
  5. Maintain truck mileage log as required by DOT regulations.
  6. Perform routine inspection on assigned equipment and refer defects or repairs to supervisor; clean equipment. Document pre-trip and/or post-trip inspections when applicable.
  7. Perform all duties in conformance to appropriate safety and security standards.
  8. Unload products, via donkey if required, at customers’ sites.
  9. Provide customer service whenever necessary.
  10. Complete paperwork required by the customer or Harrell’s.
  11. Secure load prior to each run.
  12. Must represent Harrell’s positively at all times.
  13. Ensure compliance with all Federal, State, and Local ordinances affecting this position.
  14. Ensure compliance with all Company policies and programs.
  15. Maintain valid driver’s licenses, forklift certifications, medical certifications, and endorsements (Hazmat, Tank, etc., site-specific) required to perform responsibilities.
  16. Ensure timely processing of system information and proper documentation concerning inventory transactions (shipments, transfers, receipts, changes in cost/price, etc.)
  17. Other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION:

  • Minimum High School Diploma or GED preferred.

WORK EXPERIENCE:

  • Two years’ experience as a commercial driver and operating a forklift.

LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS:

  • Valid CDL driver’s license (Class A or B, site-specific).
  • Valid medical certification.
  • Valid Hazmat certification (site-specific).

SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Good knowledge of the geographical area for efficient routing and ability to read directions and maps.
  • Ability to follow work instructions independently.
  • Ability to tip and roll a three-hundred-pound drum of chemicals with proper technique and equipment.
  • Effective communication skills.
  • Thorough knowledge of traffic laws and defensive driving.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Prolonged sitting and driving; ability to climb, sit, see, hear, grasp, and steer.
  • Ability to communicate effectively; use of mobile phone.
  • Ability to lift at least 60 pounds regularly; manual and forklift loading/unloading; stand, walk, reach, lift, carry, pull, push, bend, grasp.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Work in severe weather, traffic, and construction conditions.
  • Occasional exposure to high noise levels.

PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT:

  • Steel-toed boots required.
  • Safety glasses, ear plugs, gloves, back brace, and safety attire recommended and provided upon request.
  • Wear PPE according to SDS recommendations.
