Position Purpose:
Food and food service delivery drivers play a vital role in the country’s food supply chain. They ensure products arrive on time and in good condition, and they are the face of our company, building lasting customer relationships. The driver is responsible for operating a tractor trailer or straight truck on various routes to deliver and unload food products safely and efficiently, complying with Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Communicate professionally with customers, vendors, and co-workers, ensuring questions are answered promptly and accurately.
- Work as part of a team, performing duties that serve the company's best interests.
- Conduct safety checks (pre/post trip) on vehicles and trailers according to DOT standards; report safety issues or repairs needed.
- Follow all DOT and company safety policies and guidelines.
- Report safety hazards immediately and ensure freight is properly loaded and secured.
- Perform item count checks, verify customer invoices, and complete all freight-related paperwork accurately.
- Operate tractor and trailer, including moving to loading docks and attaching preloaded trailers.
- Deliver orders according to scheduled routes, unload products, and verify deliveries with customers, obtaining signatures.
- Handle customer payments where applicable, manage returns, and secure trailers and equipment.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the tractor, trailers, and work areas.
- Complete daily logs of hours of service per federal, state, and company requirements.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Minimum 12 months of commercial driving experience
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Valid CDL A license
- Meet all state licensing/certification requirements
- Must be at least 21 years old
- Clean Motor Vehicle Report (MVR) for the past 3 years
- Pass post-offer drug test and criminal background check
- Pass road test
- Valid DOT Health Card or ability to obtain one
- Ability to lift and move freight weighing 10-90 pounds using equipment such as lift gates and dollies
