Job description

A Delivery Driver Associate, is responsible for the safe and timely delivery of caskets to funeral homes, cemeteries, and other designated locations. This role requires a compassionate and professional demeanor, as interactions with clients and families can be emotionally sensitive. The driver ensures that all deliveries are handled with the utmost care, adheres to scheduled delivery times and protocols, and maintains the vehicle in good working order. Must be appropriately licensed and pass medical exams for compliance with DOT requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver Private Label products daily per the schedule developed from order flow.
  • Maintain suitable appearance and conduct at customer locations.
  • Collaborate in unboxing, prepping and inspecting product for daily deliveries.
  • Confirm that all product being delivered or moved out of warehouse is documented on delivery tickets or transfer authorizations prior to departure.
  • Properly load and unload product orders via van and/or truck without damage to the product.
  • Make contact with customer as needed to keep them well informed on their delivery ETA.
  • Submit daily delivery notices to Regional Administrator at the end of every day.
  • Assist with unloading containers and trucks, verifying and tagging product accordingly and placing product in the allocated areas within the warehouse.
  • Participate and assist in identifying and reporting damaged product utilizing the applicable forms and processes.
  • Assist as needed with cyclical and/or month-end physical inventory.
  • Assist with maintaining a clean, well-organized and safe warehouse environment.
  • Maintain a clean driving record and current Driver’s License.
  • Collaborate to ensure all vehicles are maintained consistently, and the applicable records are kept onsite as well as submitted to Indianapolis for required DOT general records. Report any vehicle performance problems on timely basis.
  • Complete other duties as assigned

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Must have excellent communication abilities to interact effectively with customers and team members.
  • Maintain a clean and professional appearance that aligns with company standards. This includes being well-groomed and dressed appropriately for the job.
  • Capable of driving and handling delivery vehicles safely.
  • Able to read, understand, and follow order processing procedures.
  • Adhere to company policies, including safety and OSHA regulations.
  • Work well with other personnel, follow instructions from supervisors, and respect workplace rules.
  • Present a professional demeanor when interacting with customers during deliveries and assist as needed.
  • Operate and maintain warehouse equipment and company vehicles with care, ensuring they are used appropriately and remain in good working condition.
  • Willing to learn and abide by all attendance and conduct rules, and communicate effectively with supervisors regarding performance issues.

Education and Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Prior experience driving similar vehicles to those used at Private Label.
  • Experience in general warehouse operations and in the use of material handling equipment.

Work Environment

  • Ability to lift heavy objects repeatedly throughout the workday.
  • Standing, walking, bending, kneeling, and reaching for extended periods.
  • Ability to lift up to 75 lbs. on a regular basis.
