Delivery & Set-Up Driver
Position Profile:
The Delivery & Set-Up Driver is responsible for the efficient, safe, and high-quality pick-up, relocation, and delivery of office equipment. This role may include installation and networking of equipment upon delivery. The driver’s professionalism impacts customer satisfaction and future business. Additionally, the driver provides basic training on delivered devices and must comply with all federal DOT requirements and Delivery Safety Standards.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Ensure safe and accurate delivery of equipment.
- Maintain logbooks per DOT regulations.
- Conduct vehicle inspections before and after trips.
- Perform simultaneous pick-ups during deliveries to optimize costs.
- Execute basic installations, including setting IP addresses, installing drivers, backing up data, and providing customer training.
- Participate in Safety Programs.
- Pre-call customers when necessary.
- Achieve productivity goals.
- Demonstrate technical and customer service skills.
- Identify customer needs and escalate as needed.
- Provide feedback on networking and installation processes.
- Complete training on new equipment.
- Maintain professional appearance and adhere to uniform standards.
- Coordinate with Dispatch or service departments as needed.
- Verify equipment configuration matches documentation.
- Ensure equipment is loaded and secured properly.
- Capture electronic signatures using a phone.
- Ensure paperwork is signed and processed correctly.
- Load and unload trucks.
- Assist in training new drivers.
- Follow accident/incident reporting procedures.
- Conduct inventory counts and reconcile discrepancies.
- Manage inventory valued up to $1,000,000.
- Overnight stays may be required.
- Operate warehouse equipment like forklifts and pallet jacks.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications (Education, Experience, and Certifications):
- Valid driver’s license with a safe driving record.
- Online technical training in networking and installation.
- On-the-job training with technicians or at Transfer Center.
- Eligibility to drive a commercial vehicle under FMCSR regulations.
- At least two years of medium-duty truck driving experience.
- Successful road test completion.
- Valid medical card.
- Minimum age of 20 years in the current state of residence.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Ability to read maps and use GPS devices.
- Overnight stays may be necessary.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Physical ability to handle heavy equipment.
- Ability to identify and correct risky behaviors quickly.
- Strong communication and customer presentation skills.
- Familiarity with smartphones and tablets.
- Basic computer skills.
- Technical skills for equipment installation and networking.
- Problem-solving approach.
- Good reading, math, and handwriting skills.
- Certification for warehouse equipment operation may be required.
Working Conditions, Mental and Physical Demands:
- Potential for injury if procedures are not followed.
- Frequent bending, stooping, and kneeling.
- Ability to lift up to 100 pounds and move equipment up to 1,000 pounds.
- Work in diverse environments with adequate lighting and ventilation.
- Exposure to chemicals and cleaners.
- Ability to work independently.
