Job summary

US Foods is seeking delivery drivers to join our team. You will safely drive trucks to customers, unload products, verify deliveries, and collect payments when applicable, while providing excellent customer service.

Starting pay is $25.00 per hour during training, with a transition to performance-based pay (mileage, stops, and cases) that can average $45.00 per hour. A retention bonus of $7,500 is offered for eligible new hires.

Qualifications

  • Must have CDL A and valid endorsements, DOT qualifications.
  • At least 21 years old and eligible to work in the US.
  • FMCSA Clearinghouse registration required.
  • 6 months of commercial driving experience (any industry) or 3 months in food/beverage delivery.

Responsibilities

  • Safely drive trucks to customers and meet delivery times.
  • Unload products and place in customer storage areas.
  • Verify delivery with customers and obtain signatures.
  • Handle collections and payments when applicable.
  • Provide professional customer service to enhance the client experience.
  • Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections.

Our delivery drivers start at $25.00 during training, after training drivers switch to a component pay of mileage, stops, and cases to average $45.00 per hour.

Top earners average $45.00 per hour after training

Schedule

Enjoy a variety of route opportunities while supporting our customers. Drivers must be flexible and available to run Home Daily, Team, and Layover routes based on business needs.

  • Home Daily: Sunday night-Saturday with 2 days off, averaging 45-55 hours per week.
  • Team: Sunday evening dispatch with a typical schedule of 2 days out, 1 day home, then 2 days out. Home every weekend.
  • Layover: Typically 2-day overnight routes with hotel accommodations provided during required DOT resets.

Main Ingredients of the Job
  • Safely drive trucks to customers and meet scheduled customer delivery times
  • Carefully unload products from the trailer with a two-wheeler, pallet jack, or by hand and place in designated customer storage areas
  • Verify accuracy of delivery with customers and obtain proper signatures
  • Handle collections and payments from customers when applicable
  • Professionally perform customer service responsibilities to enhance our client experience
  • Perform all pre-trip and post-trip equipment inspection
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to lift/carry/push/pull 20 to 80+ lbs. of product repetitively during each shift required
  • Comfortable driving and working in inclement weather conditions with frequent stops (10+ per shift) required
What You Bring to the Table
  • Register to the FMCSA Clearinghouse*
  • Must be at least 21 years of age
  • Must have valid CDL Class A issued by the state of legal residence with necessary endorsements and DOT qualifications
  • Minimum of six months commercial driving experience (any industry) OR three months commercial driving experience in the food and/or beverage delivery industry required
  • Ability to operate manual transmission preferred; may be required in specific locations
  • Must be able to read and communicate in the English language - able to hold a conversation, to understand highway traffic signs and signals, to respond to official inquiries, and to enter information on reports and records.

Compensation

Compensation depends on relevant experience and/or education, specific skills, function, geographic location, and other factors as applicable by law (for example: state minimum wage thresholds). The expected base rate for this role is between $25.00 and $58.00.

As applicable, this role may also receive overtime compensation, retention bonus, and component pay (i.e., based on cases, mileage, stops).
