This is not a job! This is a mission!

Are you looking for a fun summertime job that allows you to be outside in the beautiful Northwest sunshine? Do you like constant changes of scenery and the opportunity to go and explore places you’ve never been to and to talk to lots of different people? Are you good with knowing 80% of the plan and then rising to the challenge of figuring out the other 20% on the fly? Are you a master at time management and strive to exceed expectations is all that you do? Are you a self-managed team player who sees the big picture and understands how your role affects the success of the team? Do you have a hard time sitting still and prefer to be in constant motion? Are you super reliable? Do you believe you are responsible for your own success? At the end of the day would you love the satisfaction of knowing you brightened the day for so many people through your service of America’s favorite dessert?

This may be your summertime gig! Summertime is Ice Cream Time and we love to make sure our ice cream fans get the maximum opportunity to enjoy our artfully crafted, high quality ice cream all summer long! We scoop into cups or waffle cones at weddings, workplace appreciations, festivals, schools, farmers markets, celebrations of life, neighborhood parties, birthday parties, client appreciations, graduations and more! We are looking to add team members to drive our mini truck or van this summer and serve at a variety of events. Most events are in the afternoon/evening, 7 days a week. Expected hours would be between 20-40 per week with some flexibility. Our homebase and ice cream production kitchen is in Fircrest, WA. Our catering and events season runs May to September, with the majority of our events happening from June through the middle of August.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Communication with Client Representatives:

    • Keep a tally of the number of items served during the event and communicate with the client representative at the end of service to make sure that expectations were met.
  • Supply Management and Transportation:
    • Pack and transport all necessary supplies, including ice cream, utensils, signage, and equipment to transport in a Bliss vehicle to the event location.
    • Ensure that all supplies are properly organized and accounted for during transportation and setup.
  • Ice Cream Service Setup and Operation:
    • Set up your service station, ensuring that it is assembled correctly and in compliance with event regulations and guidelines within the service timeline indicated for the event.
    • Arrange product displays and signage to effectively showcase our brand and invite event attendees to order their ice cream treat.
    • Engage with and provide friendly service to event guests.
    • Perform ice cream service by scoop ice cream orders into cups or waffle cones.
  • Product Integrity and Food Safety Compliance:
    • Monitor product integrity throughout the event, ensuring that ice cream is maintained at the proper temperature and served safely to customers.
    • Adhere to food safety protocols and regulations to prevent contamination and ensure a hygienic serving environment.
  • Brand Representation and Core Values:
    • Embody our company's brand and core values at all times, maintaining professionalism and integrity in interactions with customers and event attendees. This includes driving in a manner that represents these core values.
    • Promote awareness of our company's mission and commitment to community engagement and support.
  • Equipment Maintenance:
    • Conduct regular checks to ensure that all equipment, including vehicle fuel levels, POS systems, food service tools, and the health department approved handwashing station, is in good working condition.
    • Address any issues or malfunctions promptly to minimize disruptions during the event.
    • Communicate immediately with management to get support if there are issues that cannot be solved immediately by you.
  • Transaction Management:
    • Oversee all cash and card transactions processed at any public events through the POS system, ensuring accuracy and accountability in financial transactions. *Private events are billed and paid for in advance by the client representative.
    • Maintain detailed records of sales and tips collected during the event.
  • Venue and Contractual Compliance:
    • Familiarize yourself with any venue rules and contractual agreements communicated in your shift notes on your schedule or by the client representative directly to ensure compliance with all regulations and requirements.
    • Address any concerns or discrepancies related to venue rules or contractual obligations in a timely and professional manner.
    • Plan to arrive at your service venue with plenty of time to ensure that you are set up and ready to service at the expected service time.
  • Positive Event Experience:

At Bliss Small Batch Creamery our mission is to amplify fun at our 3 neighborhood scoop shop locations and at all kinds of private and community events such as weddings, staff appreciations, celebrations of life, farmers markets, food truck events, school events, fairs and festivals, and more by serving up our delicious small batch craft ice cream in cups and waffle cone. Initial compensation $16.28/hr + great tips!

ONE FINAL NOTE: This is not a job! This is a mission! Please understand that if you are invited to work on the Bliss Team, we are fully expecting you to commit to the Team and to our Mission. Working on a food truck looks like fun from the outside and it is… but it's also a lot of hard work. There's a lot of pressure, orders must be accurate and beautifully presented, you have to work when friends and family are out having fun, and you have to be willing to pick up trash, clean utensils, mop floors, wipe down equipment at the end of the day when you are tired, etc. - and you need to do it with a CONSTANT SMILE :-). Do you think you can handle it? If you are the type of person who looks forward to talking to customers, remembering their names, making them laugh and smile, you’re applying to work at the right place, and we think you’ll love it here as much as we do!)
Our hours of operation are afternoons and evenings, with a higher demand on the weekends. Most shifts are 4-8 hours. Double shifts may be offered to qualified team members subject to availability. Must be able to work 4-5 shifts per week.

Our Requirements: We expect our team members to be courteous, friendly and engaging - every customer gets a smile and a welcome. We want our customers to feel great about their visit and our serving team is the key component to making that happen. We expect you to treat everyone, including your serving teammates, with professionalism and respect. We want you to have fun at work, but at the same time, we expect you to act professionally - we tolerate no harassment of any kind directed towards customers, other team members, or anyone else you encounter. A strong work ethic is extremely important to our success. If you are scheduled to work it is expected you will make every possible effort to meet that commitment. In addition, complete honesty and trust is a requirement and any violation will not be tolerated. I've read and understand these requirements, and I promise that I can commit to them:
