Job summary

PARR is the total source for homebuilding supplies and services, serving professional builders with Legendary Service. We are hiring a Delivery Assistant to support the Delivery Driver, move products from the warehouse to job sites, and uphold safety and customer service standards in a fast-paced environment.

Successful candidates will assist with loading, route safety, device usage for reporting, and maintaining a professional appearance.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Able to read a tape measure and understand basic measurements.
  • Familiarity with GPS devices or map apps.
  • Strong communication and customer service focus.
  • Must be able to read, write, and speak English clearly.

Responsibilities

  • Safely load and unload building materials from a truck.
  • Travel legally and safely to destinations using roads.
  • Complete mileage and fuel usage reports.
  • Ensure on-time and in-full deliveries.
  • Take photos of delivered shipments after each delivery.

Job description

A Delivery Assistant is responsible for assisting the Delivery Driver in the movement of product from the main warehouse to the delivery site while acting in a safe and professional manner. The ideal Delivery Assistant is driven to maintain safety regulations and above and beyond customer service. Depending on the location, the Delivery Assistant reports directly to the General Manager, Production Manager, or Shop Foreman and interacts daily with customers, drivers, dispatchers, receivers, and load-builders.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Safely and efficiently load and unload building materials from commercial motor vehicle
  • Legally, safely, and efficiently travel to destinations through public and private roads
  • Complete mileage and fuel usage reports
  • Demonstrates commitment to on time and in full deliveries
  • Follow delivery procedures by taking photos of delivered shipment after completing each delivery
  • Establish and maintain professional relationships with customers, contractors, and vendors
  • Maintain yard, warehouse, and vehicle cleanliness during course of work
  • Finds productive work to do in down time
  • Keeps truck supplied, organized, and clean
  • Comes to work professionally attired
  • Checks load for accuracy
  • Perform other related duties as assigned

  • Keeps truck clean daily
  • Always demonstrates consistency in following safety protocols
  • Demonstrates care, has minimal product damage
  • Proactively and consistently brings safety issues to attention of manager and team
  • Encourages coworkers to follow best practices with security
  • Participates on safety committee as able
  • Teaches and coaches teammates to learn from other’s mistakes
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent
  • Open and transparent communication
  • Familiarity with GPS devices or map applications
  • Able to read a tape measure
  • Knowledge of building materials
  • Ability to speak, write, and read English required
  • Shoes that are puncture resistant, slip resistant, made of leather or composite material, and have ankle support required

Working Conditions

This position will be working at a millworks facility and make deliveries at jobsites in all weather conditions.

Physical Requirements
  • Must be able to lift up to 90 lbs.
  • Must be able to work outdoors in all weather conditions
  • Ability to sit for an extended period of time
  • Ability to stoop, bend, and walk
