Job Description:

This program is designed for individuals aspiring to become DOT drivers but who lack the required license or tractor/trailer experience. A key requirement is obtaining a CDL–Permit within two months of starting the program. Upon successful completion, trainees are expected to be promoted to a DOT Route Service Associate. Responsibilities include:

1. Learning to perform delivery duties safely and efficiently.
2. Delivering products along assigned routes with multiple stops.
3. Reading customer invoices to determine items for delivery.
4. Using electronic equipment such as Xata onboard computers and handheld scanners.
5. Adhering to FMCSA rules and regulations.
6. Maintaining accuracy and safety in product handling.
7. Obeying traffic laws and transportation procedures.
8. Conducting vehicle safety inspections and reporting mechanical issues.
9. Maintaining records such as Driver Vehicle Inspection Reports and Hours of Service Logs.
10. Reporting delays, accidents, or traffic situations to management.
11. Completing Smith Systems Defensive Driver Training.
