Job summary

Hy-Vee is seeking a part-time Delicatessen Clerk in West Des Moines to provide prompt, friendly service and handle deli orders with accuracy. You will run registers, assist customers, and maintain cleanliness and food safety standards in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities include assisting customers, taking orders, stocking, and supporting team members to ensure a positive shopping experience. Prior experience is not required, but reliability and basic math skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Less than high school or equivalent experience and six months or less of similar or related work experience.
• Ability to perform arithmetic calculations involving fractions, decimals and percentages.
• Must be able to understand and follow verbal or demonstrated instructions; write identifying information.

Responsibilities

• Provides prompt, efficient and friendly customer service by exhibiting caring, concern and patience in all customer interactions and treating customers as the most important people in the store.
• Takes customer orders at the delicatessen counter.
• Runs the department registers and receives payment, makes change, etc., where applicable.
• Reviews orders for the day.
• Assists customers by escorting them to products, securing products, loading or unloading heavy items, and passing along customer suggestions or requests.
• Maintains strict adherence to department guidelines related to personal hygiene and dress.
• Washes dishes as necessary.
• Orders product and supplies as necessary.
• Delivers orders as needed.
• Performs other job related duties and special projects as required.
