Job summary

Weis Markets is seeking a Deli Associate to maintain fresh, well-presented deli products and provide friendly customer service. You will handle slicing, packaging, and ready-to-eat foods, while adhering to safety policies and company recipes.

The role includes cash register duties, price sign accuracy, and strict sanitation. Training is provided; opportunities to work across departments may arise.

Qualifications

• Education and/or Experience: Completed or working towards a High School Diploma or GED. No prior experience required.

Responsibilities

• Keeps Deli service areas well stocked and appealing to meet customer demands. Smiles and greets customers, answers questions and helps resolve concerns promptly in a polite, professional manner.
• Ensures freshness and condition of merchandise in display cases, proper pricing and signs. Rotates product; handles spoiled or damaged items per company procedures.
• Operates slicing equipment to provide meats and cheeses based on customer preferences; packages items with price, weight, and date; prepares ready-to-eat foods and platters; safe use of knives/kitchen utensils.
• Adheres to recipes and safety policies when preparing foods such as chicken, pizza, sandwiches, salads and other items.
• May operate cash register; follows money-handling policies to avoid discrepancies; adheres to tobacco and alcohol sale laws.
• Maintains sanitation; follows cleaning schedules and department guidelines; disposes of trash properly.
• Assists in inventory control with proper handling and logging; minimizes losses; follows recipes.
• May assist with receiving, unloading, and storing deliveries with power or manual jacks.
• Ensures smooth department/store function by cooperating with coworkers and superiors; seeks continuous improvement.
• Uses all provided PPE (gloves, safety cutters, PPE footwear, etc.).
• May assist in other departments as needed.
