Job Title: Deli Team Member

Reports to: Deli Manager

Type of Position: full time or part time

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Provides prompt, courteous service by greeting and assisting guests.
  2. Ability to work well with others in a fast-paced environment.
  3. Performs duties necessary to maintain store cleanliness (food preparation areas, equipment, counter space, etc.), ensuring that areas are always sanitary and presentable.
  4. Complies with all food safety behaviors including but not limited to proper food handling procedures and temperature requirements.
  5. Maintains knowledge of all product offerings and promotions. Supports advertising campaigns, sales promotions, and properly displays food.
  6. Ensures product is fresh, appealing, and of excellent quality for the guests.
  7. Receives product from vendor and follows correct procedures. In addition to assisting management with ordering and vendor check-in.
  8. Monitors food activities to ensure that guests receive exceptional service. Examines food products to ensure that they are correctly priced (inventory levels, pricing, stocking, and rotating merchandise).
  9. Keeps food fully stocked per planogram and builds to standards.
  10. Prepares food items per required menu, recipe, and Brand standards.
  11. Follows all cash and merchandise handling policies.
  12. Constantly looks for and eliminates safety hazards. Reports unsafe acts or conditions to management, immediately reporting such activity to management.
  13. Uses preselling, upselling, and suggestive selling techniques when operating all point-of-sales equipment and communicating with the guests.
  14. Follows all guidelines located in the Emergency Response Reporting Procedures and Policy Manual.
  15. Follows company guidelines when reacting to and reporting customer complaints.
  16. Follows company’s Uniform and Personal Appearance Policy.
  17. Reports to work on time and when scheduled.
  18. Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  1. Demonstrates sales and customer services skills.
  2. Ability to read and interpret documents such as rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  3. Ability to write routine reports and to speak effectively before customers and employees.
  4. Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide.
  5. Ability to exercise sound judgment and work with minimum supervision.
  6. Ability to perform basic computer skills.

Experience:

Previous food service experience is preferred. Must maintain current food handlers or food safety certification as required by county. Must be authorized to work in the United States.

Working Environment and Physical Requirements:

  1. Must be able to stand and/or walk for the full shift.
  2. Ability to bend at the waist with some twisting, up to one hour of the workday.
  3. May be required to climb a ladder and/or stool, kneel or crouch to store or retrieve materials and/or place or remove signs.
  4. Employees perform approximately 95% of work indoors. Outside work will be required.
  5. Employee is exposed to intermittent indoor cold temperature extremes when working in the walk-in cooler and/or freezer.
  6. Committed to work assigned hours.
  7. Must be able to work flexible hours (nights, weekends, and holidays).
