Job summary

Keweenaw Cooperative Inc. is seeking a part-time Deli Team Member to support daily food service operations, prep, service, and maintain safety standards.

Evening shifts are preferred; in-person work location with a starting wage of $15.50 per hour and advancement potential. Responsibilities include friendly customer service, food preparation, inventory, labeling, merchandising, and ensuring proper temperatures and health regulations.

• Assist with food prep tasks such as washing, cutting, and assembling ingredients
• Prepare sandwiches, salads, entrées, and other menu items according to recipes and procedures
• Package, label, rotate, and stock prepared foods and ingredients
• Help promote products through signage, samples and demonstrations
• Maintain product levels and displays in the deli grab-and-go areas
• Monitor food quality, presentation, and expiration dates
• Check and record hot and cold food temperatures according to health department guidelines
• Keep supplies stocked and organized
• Maintain clean, sanitary, and organized kitchen and service areas
• Promptly clean spills and remove hazards to maintain a safe environment
• Dispose of waste and clean equipment according to procedures
• Report equipment problems or safety concerns to a manager
• Review the department communication log before each shift
• Attend and participate in all team and storewide meetings and training sessions
• Participate in store inventories
• Follow opening and closing procedures as assigned
• Perform other duties as assigned

The Deli Team Member supports daily food services operations by preparing and serving food, maintaining cleanliness and food safety standards, and providing friendly and efficient customer service. This role works collaboratively with team members to create a safe, welcoming environment and ensure customers have a positive experience. This is a part-time position. Evening shift availability is preferred.

Pay

$15.50 per hour with advancement potential

• Ability to deliver information in a clear and respectable manner to fellow Team Members, customers, and vendors.

• No prior retail experience required.

Physical Requirements / Working Conditions

• Must be able to lift 50 pounds.
• In an 8-hour work day: standing/walking 6-8 hours.
• Hand use: single grasping, fine manipulation, pushing and pulling.
• Work requires the following motions: bending, twisting, squatting and reaching.
• Exposure to FDA approved cleaning chemicals.
• Exposure to temperatures: below 32 degrees Fahrenheit (freezing), 32-40 degrees Fahrenheit (refrigerators), over 90 degrees Fahrenheit.
• Ability to work in wet and dry conditions.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.
• Ability to use tools and equipment, slicer, including knives, box cutters, pallet jacks, and ladders.
